About Me
Hello! My name is Lara. I am a 24-year-old current master’s student studying Experimental Psychology at Sussex university and hope to eventually train as a Child Psychologist.
I am originally from Manchester, but now live in Lewes with my partner and Labradoodle, Miso (who is the best!). I absolutely love Lewes and the beautiful countryside. I feel it is a great privilege to live here with access to so many amazing green spaces.
I hold an updated DBS check and a full UK driver's licence so it is very easy for me to commute to the surrounding areas of Lewes - and take the children on day trips to the seaside, museums, parks and wherever else they wish to visit!
I have over two years of experience in casual childcare and over 20 years of being with children from newborn to fifteen, as my mum was a childminder when I was growing up. From the age of 16-20, I worked as her assistant which enabled us to have thirteen children with us daily. I have been changing nappies since I can remember!
I am extremely patient, kind and fun (hopefully the kids would agree!) nothing is too much trouble and I am an avid supporter of play-based learning. I absolutely love being creative, baking, cooking, reading and going on days out. I have an adept understanding of neurodiversity in children and adults, predominantly ADHD and ASC after working within the psychiatry field for two years.
I am available during the week and for evening babysitting. I can offer overnight on occasion if that is needed, charged at an additional, agreeable rate. I am happy to cook for the children and help out with any cleaning duties.

My Experience
My experience in childcare is varied but extensive. My mum was a registered childminder for over twenty years, so the majority of my life has been spent around children of all ages. At 16, I was registered as her assistant and together we took care of thirteen children who were of varied ages.
My roles included: preparing meals and feeding, changing nappies, helping with homework, planning days out, taking the children to and from school, etc. The youngest baby we had was only three weeks old.
Whilst at college, I worked a lot in my local area babysitting children, picking them up from school and cooking supper. I had a three month period of working with reception children as part of my course. Likewise, whilst at university, I taught Philosophy to primary school children for six weeks, which was a fantastic experience. I am incredibly comfortable around children and find their little minds fascinating.
I love working with children in a home setting, supporting their routine and understanding their family life, likes and dislikes.
My Qualifications
I hold a Second Class Honours BA in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion.
I have 4 A Levels in Sociology, Philosophy, History and English Literature.
I have a Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and a Level 4 Diploma in Child Psychology. I complete regular and extensive training with my workplace on ADHD, ASC and other neurodiverse and mental health conditions. I hold a Safe Guarding Diploma and a 40-hour TEFL certification.
I also hold a full UK Driver’s licence.

Lara looked after our 1 year old son when we were visiting Lewes/Uckfield for work. She was very trustworthy, friendly, professional and our little boy absolutely loved her. We’d definitely use Lara again if we were in the area and highly recommend her to other parents.
