About Me
Hello, my name is Abby. I live in Furnace Green with my husband, daughter Poppy and son Alfie.
Our home provides a welcoming, fun environment where children can learn, play and explore the world. I believe children develop and learn best through doing, which is why our days are built around activities that encourage this.
Our home is equipped with toys, arts and crafts, books, outdoor sandpit, slide, mud kitchen and much more to keep their little minds churning whilst at home. We also live at the back of Tilgate Forest which gives us the opportunity to explore and stimulate your child's imagination every day by getting outdoors. Endless fun can be had looking out for deer, playing pooh sticks or visiting the ducks and swans in the park. Getting outdoors will play a big part of our everyday all year round, whether it means jumping in muddy puddles or doing roly poly’s in the grass.
I’m a big fan of cooking and feel passionate about instilling healthy attitudes towards food from a young age, therefore, a variety of healthy, nutritional meals will be served each day.
I registered as a childminder because working with children has long been something I’ve dreamt of doing. Then, once I had my daughter and I got to see her grow, my passion for childcare grew stronger. In the years before becoming registered, I worked with the elderly caring for them and providing support in all areas.
I believe the characteristics needed for this role; patience, caring, kindness, understanding, etc are all essential when working with children. I provide a safe, comfortable, warm environment for children where they can thrive.
As a mum myself, I understand how difficult it can be to leave you child. Open and regular communication is key to making the transition as easy on you and your little one as possible, it also plays an important role going forward to make sure I can provide the best possible care for their development. I use the Baby Days app to keep you updated on how your little one is doing throughout the day, and to show you how they are learning, interacting and developing over time.
My Experience
I have cared for children over summer holidays but not on a professional basis. I also have a daughter and son of my own.
My Qualifications
I am a fully qualified childminder and registered with Ofsted with a good rating. I have had paediatric first aid training, safeguarding and health & safety training.
My Availability
I am available from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, however there can be some flexibility. Hours outside of this will be charged at my unsocial hourly rate of £10.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
£6 per hour or £55 for the day. This includes breakfast and lunch.

Abby offers a home from home for our children who have always been so willing to be dropped off, which speaks volumes. Our children have so much fun with Abby and her family, who always welcome them in, and the friendships they have formed show us how well cared for and included in their family life they are. Our children have benefitted enormously in terms of their development and they appreciate the way Abby joins in with their games and is also there to comfort and guide them.
Abby is an extremely committed professional, always willing to talk to us and pass on anything she knows will interest or concern us. She has a lot of patience with the children and a good sense of humour. Abby has been very understanding of our children’s complicated eating habits - she works with us offering support where possible and showing no judgment.
We feel very lucky to have found Abby.

Aby was looking after my son Konstantin.
He settled down quite quickly in Aby's house.
Her environment is set out well with organised, designated areas and plenty of toys and books. Konstantin also enjoyed playing with Aby's little daughter Poppy. It is a shame I had to stop the childminder services due to being redundant in this difficult Covid-19 times. Aby updated me regularly with my son's nappies, sleep times, what times he had his food and been sending me pictures of various activities Kostya and Poppy was having. Kostya was taken to play area's and it was really nice, as a full time working mum I wouldn't have an opportunity to do it myself during the week. Most important thing when I was looking for a childminder is trust and a friendly warm environment and that’s what I was able to see and feel when I picked Aby's Childminding services. Looking forward to use her services again when will find a new job.
