Hi! I'm an enthusiastic, friendly and experienced nanny specialising in looking after children with special needs.
My nannying style is energetic and loving, with clear boundaries to help children feel safe. I draw a lot of knowledge from my training as a Child and Family Psychotherapist and a Chuldren's Yoga teacher; I know loads about children's development and have lots of tools at my disposal for supporting that journey.
My Experience
I'm very confident looking after kids of all ages, having worked in various childcare roles for over 10 years, including as a kids yoga teacher and an English teacher abroad. I was also an emergency kinship foster carer to my niece for 4 years.
Currently I look after two lovely children from separate families. B3 has a brain tunour and is undergoing chemotherapy. He has complex needs as a result; he is fed through a tube and can't yet talk or walk. B2 has Lowe Syndrome which affects eyes and kidneys, so I manage his contact lenses and glasses and ensure he drinks lots of water.
I love playing outside with kids, and am also happy playing inside. The families I've worked with have often complimented me for the way I incorporate teaching into my work, whether it's encouraging kids to say please and thank you, teaching them to count or - with older kids - encouraging discussion arpund their school subjects or borders subjects like economics or philosophy.
For four years I cared for my niece between the ages of 10 and 14. Before that, I'd spent lots of time babysitting her and her two siblings since they were newborn. This experience means that I am very confident with my childcare abilities. While I am very enthusiastic and fun, I am also able to set boundaries and communicate them in a way that is clear and kind.
