About Me
After I graduated ’’Teacher training College’’ in my city, I was a teacher in a Primary school. Then after completing my BA and Master's degree, I worked in a few Romanian mainstream schools since 2006 until 2019, as a teacher for special needs students. I taught diverse groups of students with learning disabilities, speech /language/communication difficulties, social/emotional/ behavioural difficulties. I was working individually or in small groups with pupils and young people (between the age of 6 and 19) with confirmed disability. My skills in differentiated instruction, planning and coordinating IEP, according to each pupil’s intelligence level and needs allow me to combine strategies of social and emotional development, school work support and practical abilities improvement.
My Experience
My experience (of 12 years teaching non—disabled pupils and then of 13 years teaching only SEND ones) have taught me the lesson of patience and encouragement. This job gave me a real meaning in my life and also made me more responsible for others' life and progress.
Even if in my teaching career I have taught different ranges of disabled children, challenging behavior was not among them. So I had to learn how to deal with it in UK. As a LSA or Youth Worker, I went on improving some of my skills: resilience, efficient communication, empathy.
I work closely with each student, providing the individualized support, make him/her trust himself/herself in order to become as independent as possible. Many times I have met students’ care needs, so had to provide additional support besides the educational one. I have provided counseling for children and young people in need, for a family issue, personal conflict, nervous breakdown. I have also provided the special needs students’ classmates with counseling for a better school and social inclusion. I have stayed connected with family members, communicating with them depending on the situation, raising their awareness about what is suitable for their child’s wellbeing and finding together the best solution, in and outside the classroom.
