About Me
Hello! We're looking for a part-time house keeper (bonus if you're up for babysitting!) to join our family team! We have two little boys - 2 and nearly 6. My husband works very long hours and I've recently returned to work, theoretically part-time so I have time with the kids in the afternoons but frequently start work very early in the morning and work late into the night. So I'm hoping to get some help keeping the home-ship afloat!
My Requirements
Duties would include:
1. Preparing family meals (for Monday to Thursday - could be 3 meals with a double-batch one day) - we're not fancy! Think roast chicken, oven-tray dishes, simple curries, spag bol, simple fish dishes - anything healthy and balanced that can be prepared earlier in the day and quickly reheated or left in the oven with it set to finish cooking in time for dinner
2. Kitchen - dishwasher empty/pack, quick wipe of kitchen surfaces and any dishes that need hand washing
3. Laundry - the whole system from taking it out of the wash basket to it going back in the cupboard or in a PE bag (our cleaner currently does some of this - see notes below)
4. Quick tidy and/or other home tasks
Bonus if you could do:
1. Cleaning: we currently have a cleaner who does the cleaning, vacuuming, linen changes and quite a lot of laundry. If you would consider including that work in your role, please say so in your application, as we could consolidate the roles
2. Ad hoc babysitting - often a Wednesday evening (7.15-9.45pm), sometimes weekend evenings and occasionally weekend daytime too, occasional breakfast and drop off at school and childminder which are both easy walking distance (7.30/8-9am)
Regular hours:
- With cleaning: I suspect about 10 hours spread over Monday to Friday (e.g. 2 hours a day; or 4 hours one day, 1.5h on the others)
- Without cleaning: About 6 hours spread over Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Schedule:
I don't mind how the hours are split as long as the work gets done and we land up with full coverage of the weekdays. And I'd prefer you to come between 9 and 3. My husband and I work from home some days but won't get in your way except to say hi and quickly make a cup of tea/coffee.
As our 2 year old reaches the point where he drops his nap, there may be additional babysitting/nanny hours on a Thursday/Friday as I currently work while he naps on those days.
