About Me
I am a 24-year-old currently living in Henley-on-Thames. I am in my final year of studying dietetics at the University of Plymouth and will be a qualified dietitian this summer. Following graduating, I am planning on taking a year out before moving on to study medicine and become a doctor. In my year out I would love to work, either nannying or babysitting, as I love working with children and feel like I have the skills and attitude that are well-suited for childcare and supporting the health, development and happiness of children. I love to cook and my passion for food has only been strengthened through my degree in dietetics. I thoroughly enjoy exploring making new healthy recipes and am able to adapt them to suit younger taste buds. I would be more than happy to cook or prepare food for the children if that is ever needed. My degree includes education on newborn feeding, weaning, allergies, and intolerances as well as fussy eating, nutritional deficiencies, and faltering growth, and I feel confident to work with children who have more complex nutritional needs if required.
My Experience
Since the age of 8 I have helped care for my older brother who has a neuromuscular disability, I have been his sole carer on many an occasion so am used to large levels of responsibility. My brother, William, is wheelchair-bound and unable to move or care for himself. I have experience in cooking, personal and medical care, and general day-to-day jobs. Over the years I have regularly looked after both my older and younger brother when my Mum has gone out or gone away so am used to the responsibility of caring.
My dietetic degree has meant that I have undertaken 1000 hours of hospital placement. My placement in second year was in a children's hospital so have had over 440 hours of experience working and caring for children of all ages, including newborns, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Before university, I sometimes would babysit in the evenings for some families near where I used to live. This included helping with homework, light evening activities and helping the children get ready for bed.

My Availability
I finish university end of June 2024 and plan to start working end of July 2024 until December 2024. I then will be available again from March/April 2025 until end of August 2025.
There is a chance I might be volunteering with the Riding for the Disabled on Wednesdays afternoons during the summer so if that gets approved I won't be able to do from 1pm til 4pm on Wednesdays.
