Mimi worked for us for just a few weeks in Dec and Jan. We clicked immediately and we spent some time recruiting her and chose her above several other candidates, and she made a great start with us - she came across as professional and gentle and we all loved her, including my toddler who learnt to say her name (one of his first words). We were so excited to have found someone we thought could stay with us while our children grew up, and become part of the family.
But then everything went badly wrong. She took 2 weeks off at short notice, just after I had gone back to work part-time (and with a 5 week old baby) to look after her mum who had just an operation. We were fully supportive and understanding, although it was hectic and we’d already said goodbye to our lovely part-time nanny we’d had before Mimi, we juggled the best we could and waited for her to come back. Then one day, with no notice, she texted to say her husband had dropped off our keys, she wouldn’t take my call to discuss it and she blocked me on WhatsApp. I still have no idea what happened. We are really hurt and a bit scarred by this experience. We welcomed someone into our family and trusted them, and we feel really let down emotionally, not to mention the stress of then finding a replacement with no notice and a very small baby and demanding job. I feel the way Mimi handled this situation was unkind and unprofessional. She ghosted us and I don’t believe we did anything to deserve being treated like this. I cannot recommend her as I wouldn’t wish this treatment on any family with young children. I will put it down to the stress of her family situation but I still can’t understand it.
