My Summary
Nanny/Babysitter
About Me
Hello, my name is Niamh. Currently, I work in a nursery as a toddler room leader but I am eager to explore more opportunities in nannying and work in the nannying career full time. I have a deep passion for nurturing and supporting children's growth as they navigate life's early stages.
Having grown up with three younger brothers, I have extensive experience in childcare from a young age. I've done everything from changing nappies to entertaining and comforting them.
I'm excited about the possibility of re entering a nannying role, where I can continue to provide the nurturing care and support that I am passionate about.
My Experience
I have over 3 years experience working in a nursery where I cared and supported children from 3 months old all the way to 5 years old. I have also previously done work experience within a primary school where I cared for children up to 10 years old and learned the different abilities of every child.
I've always known that I wanted to work with children, though I wasn't sure in what capacity. In September 2022, I began studying pediatric nursing at the University of the West of England (UWE). I gained valuable experience through various work placements. In A&E, I worked with the minor injuries unit, learning how to react quickly and effectively in real-life situations.
Additionally, I spent several weeks working alongside health visitors. During this time, I learned key indicators to watch for in newborns during their early days. I also supported mothers post-birth, offering advice and guidance on the next steps in their care.
While it aligned with my interests, I realized it wasn't the perfect fit for me. I then found an apprenticeship in childcare, which I absolutely loved and excelled in, completing it quickly thanks to my prior experience.
Previously, I have worked in the nannying industry with 2 different families, where I cared for a 1 year old and also a 2 year old. We enjoyed being busy by going to playgroups, exploring the outdoors around us and sometimes enjoyed a cosy day in to practice baking and getting creative with arts and crafts.
