Hi there!
I'm a 22 yr old final year student at the University of York studying Languages. I am currently volunteering at a primary school in York as a speech therapy assistant and have been loving it. Because of this, I am wanting to expand on my childcare experience as I would like to become a primary school teacher once I graduate. Babysitting seems like the perfect way to do this. I currently live with just my partner who works full time and so I have a lot of free time available.
My Experience
I volunteer once a week at the Dringhouses primary school supporting children who need extra help with speech and communication needs. Here, I also help out with classroom assistance and general play and learning. I am happy to help with home-schooling, homework, or with speech therapy if required. I also have intermediate Spanish skills and basic Chinese skills, and a module in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have tutored Chinese children in the past helping them to learn English which I absolutely loved.
My Qualifications
I have GCSEs and Science A-levels and am currently doing a degree in linguistics. I hope to eventually earn my PGCE and become a Primary School Teacher. I also have a Level 2 in counselling and a Level 2 in Introduction to Children's Mental Health. I was part of my university First Aid Society and so have some experience in this too.
