Hi,

My husband and I are both full-time working parents, based in Newcastle upon Tyne (NE15) and we're looking for a caring and reliable childminder for our daughter from September 2026. Preferably someone who is very local to us (less than 3 miles). We are searching now because we have found that waiting lists can be up to 2 years long, especially after the introduction of the 30 free hours from 9 months old.

We're ideally looking for full-time care which can be changed week to week but, we understand that it may also have to be set days each week for child-staff ratios etc. We will only need care for 3/4 days a week. We would prefer if you offered spread funding, 30 hours across 50 weeks of the year and would pay for any additional hours to make up for what the funding doesn't cover regardless, whether spread across 50 weeks or 38 weeks term-time.

Our 30 hours funding starts from 1 January 2027. We would pay prior to then, from end of September 2026.

We're looking for someone warm, engaging and experienced – ideally someone who encourages learning through play, and provides a safe, loving environment. We'd love for them to be around other children too, to help build social skills and to spend time out and about at least once a week. We don't mind childminders having pets too.
