About Me
My name is Nicolette, and I aim to provide quality childcare in a home setting that will nurture your child’s development. I am an Ofsted registered childminder living with my husband and two boys (13 years, and 10 years) in a spacious house in North Kendal and have a lovely sunny garden.
Your child’s activities will include: small world play, forest school sessions, reading, cooking, baking, messy play, arts and crafts, sensory play, games and puzzles, role play, dancing, music, gardening, and free-play. I have a large selection of toys, games, books, crafts and activities for your child to explore and learn from.
As well as child-led free play, we have planned activities that follow the seasons, festivals, age appropriate topics of interest and story book topics, a favourite being the Hungry Caterpillar during which we observe caterpillars developing and then set them free as butterflies in the garden.
We enjoy getting out to explore the Lake District, libraries, farms and wetlands. Special trips are organised to museums and attractions, and the seaside.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and work with parents to support their child's development and needs. Parents are kept informed of their child's activities and development through the Babydays system. This includes observations of their development, assessment and planning for next steps, meals, sleeping times, toileting, bottles (for under 1 year olds), activities we did and any comments about behaviour, wow moments etc. Photos and videos are shared daily via email or WhatsApp.
My Experience
I have been working as a childminder since 2015 in London, and recently moved to Kendal. I have experience in looking after children from 6 months to 12 years old. I really enjoy having the opportunity to help children explore, learn and develop as if they were my own children. I have excellent references from all my parents. I have previously worked in the parliamentary and civil service both in New Zealand and the UK.
At my recent Ofsted Inspection I was graded Outstanding.
My Qualifications
- 12 hour paediatric first aid
- Certificate in Home Based Care through Wandsworth Early Years, Children's Services
- Level 2 Food Safety in Catering
- Safeguarding
- B.A. Hons (English and Social Anthropology)
- Hygge in the early years accreditation
- Numerous other continuing professional development courses
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years.
My Availability
I work Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 5.30pm. I do not currently have any vacancies.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
£5 per hour inclusive of snacks, wipes and regular outings. Parents provide nappies and formula.
£2 additional cost per meal if not provided by parents.
I accept childcare vouchers and am registered for the tax-free childcare scheme.
