My name is Amanda and I am a Ofsted and PACEY registered childminder. I have been child minding for twenty three years. I live in Elsenham conveniently located near the mainline to Cambridge and Liverpool Street, near the M11 and Stansted Airport. I have two grown up children a girl who is 29 and a boy who is 24 years old they both live at home with me along with our two family dogs (English Springer Spaniels).
As a registered Childminder I care for children in my own home. This is a safe, hygienic, smoke free and fun environment, with a large safe garden which promotes learning and understanding at every age and stage of a child’s development.
Being Ofsted registered ensures that all the national standards that are laid down by Ofsted are met.
I have one assistant that helps me provide this level of care who works part time on a Tuesday. She is also first aid trained and has all relevant safeguarding training among other course.
I am continuously updating my childcare practice in all areas that I can, and I believe that the experience I have gained over the years both as a Child Care provider and as a mother have enabled me to become very reliable and a dedicated childminder. Along with this experience I also continue my continual professional development, attending a range of courses. Both my assistant and I have completed my NVQ 3 in pre-school practice and NVQ 3 in Teaching Assistant training. I am first aid trained and have the relevant safe guarding training.
I am able accept funding for 2-3 and 4year olds.
I always try to be flexible about the hours in which I work to match your needs and strive to provide you with a very reliable service.
Since becoming a childminder I have attended various courses relating to childcare, so that I could further both my understanding and skills within my career. I also want to provide the best possible service both to children and parents.
I feel by achieving the qualifications that I have, has given me a sound understanding of my role as a child care practitioner and what the children need.
I shall continue to upgrade my qualifications and skills where possible.
Below is a list of some achievements so far:
NVQ 3 in Pre School Practice
NVQ 3 in Teaching Assistant
Learning through play
A childminding preparation-training course
First Aid parents/carers under 8’s (this is repeated every three years)
Basic food hygiene - gaining food rating 5 for the setting.
Teaching children English as a second language.
SEN Codes of Practice Training
Impacts of Child Abuse
And many more
I believe learning can come from many sources and most of mine has come from life experience and bringing up my own children.
My normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.30pm (unless prior arrangements have been made)
I shall always try to be flexible regarding the hours in my working day and can often work any extra hours you require.
