Claire Draper worked with our family of four as a night nanny from February - March 2026 for a six-week period, supporting us with our newborn son, Otto, from when he was six weeks old.
After a very challenging experience with sleep during the early months of our first child, we wanted to have the right support in place second time around - particularly with a toddler at home as well. We found Claire via Chilcare.co.uk, and her profile immediately stood out due to her depth of experience and the strength of her reviews (all amazing). From our very first conversation, it was clear she was exceptional. She listened carefully to our previous experience, understood exactly what we needed, and made us feel completely reassured that we were in safe hands.
Claire supported us two nights a week (Sundays and Tuesdays), and from the moment she arrived, she was calm, capable, and completely natural with Otto. She has a wonderful, gentle presence and an obvious confidence that comes from years of experience. Knowing Claire was with Otto overnight meant we could truly rest -something that we really needed at that stage, particularly after paternity leave had ended for Will (Dad).
Even as second-time parents, we were surprised by how much we had forgotten or felt unsure about, and Claire’s guidance was so helpful. Otto was combination-fed (expressed milk and formula), and Claire was fantastic in providing thoughtful, practical advice around feeding – taking the pressure off and helping us understand when to increase volumes, when a top-up might be needed, feeding positions, dummy use, and managing issues like nappy rash. What stood out most was how she shared her advice. She was always supportive, never intrusive, and helped build up our confidence after a tricky experience with our first baby.
With Claire we established a great routine with Otto, and she was a constant source of reassurance throughout. Her communication is excellent - each morning we would receive a detailed WhatsApp summary of the night, including feeds, changes, how Otto had settled, along with any helpful suggestions for the days she wasn’t with us.
We are based in Wanstead, London, and despite travelling from Sevenoaks, Claire was unfailingly punctual - arriving exactly at 9pm and finishing at 6am each time without exception. Her professionalism and reliability were faultless.
Claire is a truly outstanding night nanny with an incredible level of experience - not just with single newborns, but even multiples (including triplets!). She combines this expertise with genuine warmth, love, and care, and very quickly felt like part of our family during the time she was with us.
