Hello my name is Lorna, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
I became a 'maternity nurse' January 2015 but became self- employed August 2015. Qualified in May 2015!
I am a caring, maternal, discreet, very friendly and supportive maternity nurse. I give 100% dedication to my job and like to feel part of the families I work for.
My role is to, guide, support and provide plenty of advice on all aspects of baby care on a non medical scope. I can advise on jaundice, reflux, colic, feeding issues and much more. Also set structured but flexible routines (Not Gina Ford).
I am also a mum of three to an 18, 17 and 10 year old; so therefore, able to provide your family with hands on experience but remaining professional.
I have a valid UK passport, so able to travel with the families I work for.
I am DBS cleared (and on the online update service) hold relevant qualifications and fully insured! Also a member of the ABBP (association of birth & baby professionals)
Vast experience with babies, toddlers and children since 1995 working in nursery schools a montessori, nannying and currently maternity nursing.
During this career I've had experience with caesarean mums, babies with reflux and colic, slight tongue tie, establishing routines with sleeping and feeding, Feeding multiples and correct positioning on the breast, formula feeding and combination fed babies. As well as ensuring mum and baby are comfortable and the mum is getting plenty of rest. All aspects of baby care-changing, feeding, bathing, advising and supporting parents.

Lorna was with us for nearly 4mths from the 23rd September 2016, full time initially then moving to doing approx. 4 days a week in the last 2 months.
From day 1 Lorna was fantastic to have on hand, extremely knowledgable, reassuring and caring. She was very reliable and easy to have about.
I had been left in a difficult situation whereby I lost my mother 3 weeks before my son was born. He is my 1st child and so this was a situation only made manageable by having someone like Lorna around. I knew I didn't have to worry about my wee man, and could get on and deal with some pretty awful admin!
On top of this we had just completed on a 2nd home in Leicestershire, and so as soon as my little man was old enough to travel up and down we all went to Leics for weekends. Lorna was very flexible about this and quickly familiarised herself with the new surroundings and the excellent routine that was established at 7 weeks was not disrupted.
I was very sorry to see Lorna go but know that I will definitely be calling on her again for the odd day and hopefully next child. My little boy will certainly be very happy to see her again.
Lorna has worked for us for six months; we sadly have to let her go as we are moving. She stepped into the breech just ahead of the birth of our third son - nominally as maternity nurse, but has taken on the full nanny role from day 1.
She is extremely loving, willing to learn and discreet. From day 1 she has been a super support making sure the baby was well cared for and I had all I needed. She carefully guided the elder boys in accepting and caring for the newborn.
Lorna is very committed and keen to do all she can to make your experience with a newborn the best it can be. Working full time, she has done several nights, to allow me to recover.
She has shown herself to be very thorough in researching any thoughts that we had discussed one day and providing thorough guidance.
We will be sorry to lose her.
