Hello my name is Lorna, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
I'm a Newborn Care Specialist (Maternity Nurse) & I am trained and skilled in newborn care. I provide unique expertise in all aspects of newborn care, parental education and support. My job is to help nurture and care for newborns while providing guidance and education for the parents.
I am a mum of three: 20 year old daughter, 19 year old son and a 12 year old son.
At home, I reside in Devizes, Wiltshire. I mostly work in London and only takes an hour on train. Due to trains being very accessible I can work nationally. I also hold a UK valid passport, so if required can work internationally too.
I have availabilty up to May then from September onwards to take bookings on a 24/5 or 6, live-in basis.
Duration can vary as I'm very flexible.
DBS checked and checkable. Fully qualified & also Paediatric 1st aid.
Lovely references, upon request.
Vast experience working in the childcare industry, (since 1995). Maternity since January 2015 & wouldn't look back. Best thing I ever did was follow this path.
During this maternity career, I've had experience working with natural & caesarean mums. Babies with reflux, colic, tongue tie. Circumcision. Feeding issues that needed addressing.
I have established good effective routines, which reflect in my references.
Breast, formula feeding, combination fed babies & express. Very open minded to which method you choose. Fed is best in my opinion.
Singles and multiple babies.
I've also stayed on two occasions at the 'Chelsea & Westminster hospital' for two different clients. I am very adaptable and go out my way to ensure my clients are comfortable, have companion and my full support whether in hospital or at home.
I also provide full support after the booking too via phone, email, text, video chat and even visit too.

Lorna came to us when our baby girl was 8 weeks old.Being proud and ,,can do it all,,type ,I had to accept that i needed help. When Lorna walked through the door i wanted to cry.I felt like a huge relief. We clicked straight away, she has a great sense of humour. She took Lara and me under her wings ,she was not wasting time. She helped us with feeding and sleeping routine,i co-slept with my daughter and didn’t have a clue how to break the cycle.Lorna gave me my confidence back.I haven’t been out properly for first 8 weeks. After her arrival there was no stopping us.I was on the edge of losing my marbles. And Lorna put me on the right path.I can’t thank her enough for being so wonderful.I am keeping my marbles thank to her.We will be forever grateful xxx
Lorna was with us for nearly 4mths from the 23rd September 2016, full time initially then moving to doing approx. 4 days a week in the last 2 months.
From day 1 Lorna was fantastic to have on hand, extremely knowledgable, reassuring and caring. She was very reliable and easy to have about.
I had been left in a difficult situation whereby I lost my mother 3 weeks before my son was born. He is my 1st child and so this was a situation only made manageable by having someone like Lorna around. I knew I didn't have to worry about my wee man, and could get on and deal with some pretty awful admin!
On top of this we had just completed on a 2nd home in Leicestershire, and so as soon as my little man was old enough to travel up and down we all went to Leics for weekends. Lorna was very flexible about this and quickly familiarised herself with the new surroundings and the excellent routine that was established at 7 weeks was not disrupted.
I was very sorry to see Lorna go but know that I will definitely be calling on her again for the odd day and hopefully next child. My little boy will certainly be very happy to see her again.
Lorna has worked for us for six months; we sadly have to let her go as we are moving. She stepped into the breech just ahead of the birth of our third son - nominally as maternity nurse, but has taken on the full nanny role from day 1.
She is extremely loving, willing to learn and discreet. From day 1 she has been a super support making sure the baby was well cared for and I had all I needed. She carefully guided the elder boys in accepting and caring for the newborn.
Lorna is very committed and keen to do all she can to make your experience with a newborn the best it can be. Working full time, she has done several nights, to allow me to recover.
She has shown herself to be very thorough in researching any thoughts that we had discussed one day and providing thorough guidance.
We will be sorry to lose her.
