Hello, my name is Kay and I live and work in Chippenham, close to the A4 and A350, with my husband and grown up daughter. I also have two small friendly dogs.
I offer childcare in a safe and nurturing home from home environment offering lots of different activities and fun where children can learn and progress through play and experience. For example arts and crafts, singing and dancing, dressing up and role play, cooking, sensory play, sharing stories, small world or block building. I have a very large, fully enclosed garden with a covered wildlife pond and a variety of outdoor toys. We go out most days to local childminding groups, toddler groups, soft play, library, school pick ups etc which allows the children to socialise with a wider group of familiar adults and children within their community helping them to feel more secure. The children have access to outdoor activities every day either when we are out and about or in the garden.
We enjoy visits to many places including Whitehall Garden Centre, Westonbirt, local farms, Bradford on Avon, Steam museum, Lacock and Little Nature Explorers (Forest School type activities). During school holidays we venture further afield and include trips to Slimbridge, the seaside or possibly Bristol Zoo.
Pre-school children in my care are supported through the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework to encourage each child's learning and development to help them reach their full potential at their own pace. I use an online journal to keep parents up to date on their childrens' activities and progress
I have been working as a childminder for 24 years and been a mum for 33 years, giving me a range of hands on experience with children of all ages.
I have worked with children with additional needs and undertaken additional training where relevant to assist with this. For example Speech and Language, Hearing, ADHD, Autism, Diabetes and dietary requirements.
I undertake regular training to keep myself up to date on any changes or additions to exisiting qualifications.

Kay looked after our little boy 2 days a week from the age of 9 months to 2. We were really sad to move him on, but a change in jobs meant a change in childcare for us. Kay gave our son a range of amazing experiences - regular trips to childminding groups, soft play centres, garden centres at Christmas to see the lights and displays, visits to local museums and centres to see trains, outdoor activities including parks, Westonbirt and visits to see animals. They also did loads of crafts together and we loved seeing his new creations each week! Kay's house provides a brilliant base for her and the children. The set up is great with plenty of toys and a lovely garden with loads of outdoor toys and ride on vehicles. Kay's approach was prefect for us and our son - she is warm and friendly, but also fair and does not stand for nonsense! Kay's experience also helped as as first-time parents not familiar with childcare routines and set-up - she has everything the children need and was really helpful in advising us what to provide.
We loved reading the detailed daily reports from Kay and it was always really helpful to know how much had been eaten, how much sleep had been had, nappies etc - especially for the parent not on pick up that day. Kay was brilliant at sending regular photos and recently moved to an online journal which meant we could share updates with family and friends too. Kay was always really flexible with our needs and helped to support us with additional hours when we needed them.
Our son loved his time with Kay and was always really happy to be dropped off and start his day at her house. I would highly recommend Kay to anyone looking for a childminder and feel really really lucky that we found her!
Kay has been looking after my daughter one day a week and she loves her 'Kay day'. Kay is a very active childminder. My daughter has had the opportunity to take part in lots of amazingly varied activities and she is always full of excitement to tell me about her day when she gets home. Each week I receive a well written journal entry describing my daughters day, detailing where they have been and how my daughter has engaged with the activities and children around her.
I have always found Kay very approachable, friendly and willing to listen if I have any worries about my daughter. For example, when we went through the phase of potty training, Kay was absolutely brilliant, offering sound advice and support. When I leave my daughter with Kay I know she is in experienced and extremely capable hands. I would recommend Kay very highly as a wonderfully, kind and caring childminder.
We have been using Kay for the last 4 years. Our daughter has been with her since she was 9 months old and our son with her since he was 1 (although she has known him since birth). She has always been so kind, caring and loving towards both the children and good at being strict with them where needed. She has grown a lovely bond with both and they can’t wait to see her. She has also been a great support to us as parents over the last 4 years giving us advice when needed.
We love the fact that Kay takes them on regular outings and meets with other childminders which gives the children opportunities to mix with others. They are always very excited to tell us about what they have been up too. Kay keeps very regular updates of their progress and what they have been doing each day they are with her.
Kay is very reliable and I highly recommend her.
Kay has been so brilliant for my son, she is kind, caring and patient but also firm when needed which are all qualities that have helped my son feel nurtured and safe. One of the many things that we love about Kay's setting is that they go on regular outings and trips to all sorts of places and always have opportunities for outdoor play. This was really important for us having come from a nursery setting where he had barely any time outside and has allowed my child to grow in confidence and enhance his life experiences.
My son is developing into a confident and capable little boy through Kay's care as he is encouraged to do many independent tasks suitable for his age which has added to his sense of self belief and determination to succeed at tasks.
Kay gives us daily updates with photos for us to keep about what adventures they have had that day and one of Kay's strengths is that she really notices little and subtle achievements and changes in my child which is so lovely and she uses these to help support further developments.
Kay has also been a great source of advice on general care and parenting issues about which I have consulted her. I know that whenever I need some help, support or advice, I can ask freely and Kay will give me time to have a good chat. I know Kay is highly experienced, qualified and professional and so I feel totally at ease that my child is in the best hands.
I highly recommend Kay as a childminder and love the individual attention my child gets as she really supports the child as an individual.
Kay looks after our two boys, collecting them from school. She is kind and caring but also firm and fair, qualities we consider very important. The boys love her large garden and they are thriving under her care. Choosing a child minder to leave your children with is a big decision but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kay.
