Bishop Lonsdale Church of England Primary School and Nursery is an academy sponsor led school in Derby. According to the latest government data, it has approximately 243 pupils and allows entry for children aged 3-11.
About Us
Our school building was opened in January 1997. It is an innovative style set in parkland. The building is curved with all the classrooms on the inside of the curve looking over the playground and parkland. The Foundation Stage Unit (Nursery and Reception) is at one end of the building, with Year 6 at the other end.
The outer curve of the building houses the administrative rooms and other areas, including a large library. Classrooms have interactive whiteboards and laptops . In addition, there is a very well equipped hall / gymnasium which doubles as the dining hall and is also home to our Day Care breakfast and after school clubs. The kitchens are adjacent to the hall and the cook and her assistants provide excellent school meals, which are cooked on the premises.
Bishop Lonsdale Primary School is a member of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and benefits from support and advice from the DDAT office. The ethos of the school reflects its Christian foundation and a daily act of worship and religious education is central to the life of the school. The school enjoys close links with the Church and Parish of St Luke and the children attend services at the church at different times of the year.
Our Childcare Provision
Bishop Lonsdale Primary School provides a safe and secure before and after school Day Care Service for Bishop Lonsdale pupils during term time only, staffed by fully qualified and experienced Bishop Lonsdale staff. There are lots of different activities laid on for the children both indoors and outdoors throughout the school year.
Our breakfast club runs from 7.50am until 8.55am including breakfast and we also provide a drop off service at 8.20am that does not include breakfast. Children are taken to their classes by the Day Care staff at 8.55am.
After school care is available from 3.30pm - 4.30pm (including a drink and biscuit), 3.30pm - 5.30pm (including tea), 3.30pm - 6pm (including tea). Day Care staff collect the children from their classrooms.
