About Us
Henry Allen Nursery School has been open for over 74 years and continues to develop and grow to meet the ever changing needs of families today. We are based in modern, purpose built accommodation for 21st Century Early Years Provision. We believe that children learn through play and first hand experiences. Involvement in play helps to develop children’s understanding which in turn helps them progress and achieve in their learning.
The staff are all highly qualified early years practitioners and are skilled in making children’s learning a positive experience. We offer children creative and experimental learning experiences that keep minds and bodies active and engaged.
Our Childcare Provision
Henry Allen Nursery School is a local authority school, funded by Buckinghamshire County Council to serve the community of Amersham. We provide part time nursery education for 52 children in the morning and 26 children in the afternoon. Before applying for a place, we encourage parents to visit the nursery when their child is nearly 2 years old. After your visit you will be given an application form.
In accordance with our admission policy children are offered places at Henry Allen Nursery School the term after their 3rd birthday and in date of birth order. The exception to this is those children who have a Statement of Special Educational Need.
Once your child’s place has been confirmed you will be sent an information pack, plus a date and time for you and your child to visit prior to your child’s starting date. You will then be introduced to your child’s Key Person.
Henry Allen Nursery School offers 15 hours a week of free nursery education for 38 weeks a year.
You will be able to apply for your preferred sessions of morning or afternoon places and session times are 8.55 – 11.55am and 12.45 – 3.45pm. We will always endeavour to accommodate your preference.
We have some spaces in our nursery for children aged two years old. We offer spaces to children who are in receipt of funding as well as some spaces for parents who wish to pay for childcare. The children are in our Rabbit class and they have their own special room called ‘The Warren’ which is an annexe to the main nursery building.
