About Us

Highfield Preparatory School is the leading independent girls’ school and nursery in Maidenhead. For parents looking for a school to enhance their daughters’ education, Highfield Prep is the perfect choice. We offer wonderful resources in a happy, secure and stimulating environment where all girls learn and develop at their own pace. Highfield Prep School is a local school, 5 minutes’ walk from the town centre, and really is Maidenhead’s best kept secret!

In the Nursery (3 and 4 year olds) and Reception classes (5 year olds) right through to Year 6 (11 year olds) the girls are taught to love learning and are inspired to achieve their very best. We genuinely want every girl to have the opportunity to shine and be proud, to learn who they are, and have the confidence to have a go with the belief that they can succeed.

Since its founding in 1918, Highfield has offered an excellent education to girls, where individual achievements and the importance of team efforts, are both highly valued. Whatever their starting point, our pupils are encouraged to work hard, discover and develop their individual talents and to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and to the wider community. We offer them a creative curriculum enriched with a range of extra-curricular clubs and visits, to stimulate their minds and make their learning fun.

As soon as you walk in the door at Highfield you know you are in a very special place. There is a strong sense of purpose in the girls and their confident, smiling faces are testimony to their enjoyment in all that they do at school. They work and play together in harmony and show a genuine concern for each other.

Who wouldn’t want their daughter to skip happily into school, make really good friends and discover all her talents in a small class, where she can become the best she possibly can be? This is our aim for every girl here and it is what makes our school so wonderful. Our girls develop a life-long love of learning.

Highfield girls are confident, independent and articulate and display a ‘can do’ attitude. They love to get involved, show great commitment to their activities and enjoy each other’s company. Strong friendships are formed in the warm and friendly atmosphere created by our caring staff.

Our Childcare Provision

We understand that work-life balance can sometimes be difficult and therefore recognise the need to support our families. Our wrap-around care facility operates from 7.45am to 6pm, and means you can drop your daughter off at Breakfast Club and collect her from The Den in the evening, where she will enjoy a light tea.

The aim of wrap-around care is to create a family experience at the end of the school day. Activities are very much up to the girls and they can choose from a range of experiences, from playing games to doing craft activities.

The girls lead busy lives and when the school day ends it is important that they can relax a little. Wrap-around care provides a 'home at school' experience, which is much enjoyed by those who attend, and is where life-long friendships are formed.

In addition we have an all-year round holiday club run on-site by Wise Owls, providing fun experiences throughout the Easter and Summer Holidays.
