About Us
Ibstock Community College is ‘a good school’ where students make progress which is above the national average, according to Ofsted inspectors who visited the college in October 2014. The college was awarded ‘good’ in all four categories, covering leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching and student achievement. Inspectors praised the college for creating ‘a positive attitude for learning’ and said that teaching was good in all subjects. Students’ ‘behaviour and attitudes to learning’ were also good. Students were described as being ‘welcoming, friendly and courteous to each other, staff and visitors.’
We believe that the best possible education is based upon a clear focus upon three essential aspects – ensuring that core skills and values are embedded in our students; nurturing partnerships with parents and the community; and creating a wide range of opportunities to encourage exploration and risk-taking.
Our focus upon the core skills of numeracy and literacy ensures that students excel in their education. In addition, we pride ourselves on emphasising the core values that prepare students for a productive, creative and positive future. The values of service to the community and a respect for each other have been an integral part of the education provided at Ibstock Community College for nearly a hundred years and we maintain this tradition for all of the students who join us.
The partnership between the college and the community mean that students are surrounded by the culture of life-long learning. In addition, our open communication is a strength of the college and allows parents to have easy access and discussion with staff on any matter of their child’s education.
Our Childcare Provision
Ibstock Day Nursery has been rated ‘good’ in all categories by Ofsted, following its latest inspection in December 2015. The report found that ‘staff work very well with parents to establish a warm, caring environment where children thrive.’ All children were said to be ‘working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age.’ Ofsted observed that even children whose starting points were lower than expected were ‘making swift progress and any gaps in their learning are closing.’ There was also praise for the ‘early reading and mathematical skills [which] help to prepare children well for the next stage of their education, such as starting school.’ Recently-appointed nursery manager Amy Roe was applauded for her ‘ambitious drive to maintain the highest levels of achievement for all children.’ This includes disabled and special needs children who, according to the report, ‘receive excellent, individualised support’ from staff, including the ‘highly qualified and very experienced special educational needs coordinator’.
David Phillips, principal of Ibstock Community College, said: “We are absolutely delighted with Ofsted’s findings which clearly reflect the hard work, vision and dedication of all the nursery staff. The report also recognises the strong relationship we have with parents whose support is invaluable in helping us to run such a happy, safe and successful nursery setting for their children.”
At Ibstock Day Nursery, we aim to ensure that you feel welcome, fully informed and happy with this next step in your child's life; it is a step that we see as a partnership between both nursery and home. We strive to provide an environment and experiences which are fun, happy and safe for your child, and meet their individual requirements.
