About Us
Traditional values, beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities and wide ranging academic, cultural and sporting opportunities are all important. But what matters most is the quality of relationships which exist in a happy, secure and caring community, where staff are dedicated to bringing out the very best in those for whom they are responsible, whatever their background or ability. Set in glorious Surrey countryside, access to the School could not be easier. Whether you fly, drive or come by train your journey will be straightforward with excellent links to London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and the South Coast, all less than one hour away. A broad, balanced curriculum is key to providing the skill set needed to equip our young men and women for tomorrow’s global society. At King Edward’s we support this with excellent teaching, a supportive learning environment and stimulating resources. Alongside academic studies, a plethora of co-curricular activities allows our pupils to pursue their own interests and discover new ones. The outdoor facilities are complemented by a superbly-equipped sports hall, swimming pool, dance studio, gym and fitness suite. Excellent facilities include an astro turf pitch, four badminton courts, two cricket nets, indoor netball, tennis, hockey and a basketball court. The Sports Centre has a fully fitted cardiovascular suite and weights room, swimming pool and there are also three squash courts, five netball courts and a dance studio. Pupils develop their interests in the major and minor sports within and outside the curriculum.
Our Childcare Provision
With modern facilities and experienced House Parents, matrons and other resident tutors, the school provides a bright, cheerful and caring environment, with an emphasis on helping new pupils - day and boarders alike - to settle in happily. Girls and boys enjoy the privacy of separate boarding areas. Lessons take place Monday to Friday. On Saturday there are activities for boarders which are also available to day pupils. Weekly and flexi-boarding has also become a popular option, as well as extended days, perfect for working parents. Our main aim is to achieve a happy, busy and purposeful House. As such, some pupils, including the House Captain, are given responsibility for different aspects of the daily routine or with helping to organise games and activities. As part of our ‘pursuit of excellence’ programme, all are encouraged to take on leadership roles, under the guidance of a House tutor.
