Our Childcare Provision

Leighton Primary is a two form entry the school Pupil Admission Number (PAN) is 420 children, 60 in each year group. Our teachers work co-operatively, so from time to time, children meet and work with teachers other than their own class teacher. Because of this, children have the stability of a class teacher as well as the benefit of skills and experience of other teachers.
Our teaching takes into account the best practices available. We aim to give a balance between traditional teaching methods and new innovative styles. The styles are adapted to best suit the pupils’ abilities, the physical circumstances and the nature of the groups. Groupings vary according to the task. They may be based on ability, age or friendship. All work is carefully planned to meet the needs of individual children within the curriculum
Our aim is for your child to find work exciting and challenging, ensuring that they achieve their full potential.
Children follow a progressive programme of work from the foundation stage to year 6. The national curriculum is taught through a variety of approaches. Work is carefully planned to avoid repetition and builds on previous knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired by the children as they learn.
