About Us
I CAN’s Meath Primary School is a unique, nurturing, specialised learning community. The school and care settings have been recognised by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ since 2008 and are on the Ofsted Outstanding Providers list. We are special because we are one of a very few schools in the UK that is purely for primary aged children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), including Asperger’s Syndrome. We specialise in young learners.
We work to create a school community where children achieve excellent progress in their speaking, listening and understanding. In this way, we can ensure that their learning develops and confidence, independence and self-esteem grow. We want pupils to become responsible, active participants in their school and family life and in their home communities.
Meath School is part of I CAN, the children’s communication charity. Over the last 3 years an average of 82% of our exit pupils have consistently achieved in the upper quartile (top 25%) of all SEN learners nationally by making outstanding progress in the strands of Maths, Science and English. This year (2015), 72% of pupils made outstanding progress in Maths, 57% in Science and 86% in English, their hardest subject. We are so proud of them!
Although our school is in Surrey, we also accept pupils from surrounding areas including: Oxford, Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead, Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, Berkshire, Croydon, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent and London (e.g. Richmond, Twickenham, Kingston, Ealing, Hounslow, Brent, Barnet, Hillingdon, Harrow, Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster).
