St Peter's Church of England (VA) Junior School is an academy sponsor led school in Tavistock.

About Us

St Peter's was originally opened in 1976 and occupies a modern building with a light, pleasant appearance throughout. The school has just benefitted from a major refurbishment and building project. We now have three large classrooms and four smaller classrooms with shared open plan areas. In addition there is a hall, ICT suite, library, SEN room and community room. Each classroom also has an exterior door giving access to the extensive playing fields, playgrounds, ponds and nature area.

The junior school currently has approximately 160 pupils on roll. Each class is equipped with a modern interactive whiteboard. Each of the three teaching sides of the school are named after local 'tors' to be found on Dartmoor, namely, Brentor, Coxtor and Pewtor. The multi-purpose hall is used for our daily worship, P.E. and games, drama and as a dining room.

Children generally join St Peter’s in the September following their seventh birthday. They are then in what is termed 'year 3' of their education. They will normally leave at the end of the summer term following their eleventh birthday, at the end of 'year 6'.
