About Us

Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Sixth Form College (TIGHS) is a 800 place 11-18 Muslim faith Academy for girls and the founding school of the Tauheedul Education Trust.
Created in response to demand from the community in the early 80s, the school offers a culture of high expectations, a high powered academic curriculum, an exciting enrichment programme and a strong emphasis on community service.
Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ three consecutive times, the school’s achievements place it amongst the top performing schools for attainment and progress in the country. In 2015, with the support and dedication of our staff, governors and parents, 91% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and Maths and 74% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate.
Learners with SEN make outstanding progress at the school. Most learners make at least four levels' progress from KS2-4. This demonstrates that teaching and support stretches each individual learner regardless of special educational needs.
Activities are planned to challenge more able learners and support and challenge less able learners. Less able learners and students with SEN receive support through differentiated resources and activities, support staff and targeted small-group and one-to-one tuition.
FFT data also shows that learners with SEN significantly outperform national levels of progression between KS2 and KS4, helping to place the school each year in the highest achieving percentile (top 1%) in the country. This demonstrates that learners of all backgrounds, including SEN, do exceptionally well at the school.
Since 2011 (when disregarding students with complex learning needs), almost all students with special educational needs achieved 5A*-Cs with English and Maths and the English Baccalaureate. Students with SEN or who are ‘School Action’ have a higher VA score than those without special educational needs.
This focus on educational excellence is coupled with a genuine desire to nurture learners into exemplary British citizens who are champions of their school. The school aims not only to develop young women of the highest intellectual calibre, but women who are able to contribute morally, spiritually, socially, economically and politically to the societies and communities in which they live, study and work.

Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School is an outward looking school and works closely with partners in the local area and beyond. As part of its commitment to developing a school-led school improvement system, the school has gained National Support School status, is a licensed provider of the National College’s prestigious Leadership Curriculum delivering the NPQH, NPQSL and NPQML to school leaders across the region and, most recently, has established the Tauheedul Teaching School.

Through its emphasis on continuous improvement, social mobility and innovative ways of working and learning, the school aims to set the standard, locally, regionally and nationally and to be a blueprint for other schools and colleges of all faiths and none.
