About Us
At Bishop King Church of England Primary School, our mission is to provide a full and effective education rooted in the Gospel values and in the teachings of the Church of England. We promote confidence and self-esteem to encourage a thirst for learning and model a lifelong attitude to learning. This is lived out daily in our school life and through the prayer, worship and love of the scriptures. In this foundation we seek to deliver a broad and balanced challenge curriculum, fit for purpose in modern Britain.
At Bishop King CE Primary School, we believe we inspire dreams and aspirations by the help of God, rooted in access to Him through Jesus and the Holy Spirit encouraged by every achievement that He will grant.
Promoting British Values
Our government believes that, 'British society is founded on fundamental values and principles, which all those living in the UK should respect and support. These values are reflected in the responsibilities, rights and privileges of being a British citizen or permanent resident of the UK. They are based on history and traditions and are protected by law, customs and expectations. There is no place in British society for extremism or intolerance.'
We support this view of British society at Bishop King CE Primary School.
Democracy
At Bishop King CE Primary School important aspects of school life such as School Council, children being involved in changes to the environment and developing priorities for Sports Premium Funding help children to understand how working together for the good of the school creates positive relationships and is a valuable preparation for future life in our democratic society.
The rule of law
To help children understand how society cannot operate without a set of laws, we teach them how our school values of Peace, Truth, Forgiveness, Justice, Generosity and Respect create an ordered, fair and safe place in which to learn.
Individual liberty
At Bishop King CE Primary School, children have opportunities to make individual choices and express their opinions safely and appropriately. This develops their character, self-belief and their sense of empathy as they are encouraged to develop these qualities in the context of the rights and needs of other members of our school community.
Mutual Respect
Through developing tolerance and mutual understanding children are encouraged to respect themselves and to respect the rights of other people. This principle underpins our behaviour policy and is put into practice in the classroom, around school, in the playground and throughout our daily acts of Collective Worships
Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
We are lucky to have a school community that comprises children and staff from a wide range of different cultures, languages, backgrounds and faiths. We celebrate this through Global Learning, achieving International School Award for a second time, successful Comenius school partnership and Connecting Classroom projects with a Primary school in China, World Hello Day, visiting different places of worship and welcoming visitors of different faiths and who can support our children in visualising the wider world.
Bishop King CE Primary School is a lively, friendly school where teaching is joyfully received by engaged and well-motivated children. The school environment is very appealing for children and represents for them a safe haven, a place of learning and security.
