Wearhead Primary School is a community school school in Bishop Auckland. According to the latest government data, it has approximately 18 pupils and allows entry for children aged 4-11.

About Us

We are a small village primary school with two mixed age classes. The school is situated between the villages of Cowshill and Ireshopeburn in Upper Weardale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Wearhead Primary is a happy and friendly school that captures a life-long love of learning. We want to encourage children to fulfill their individual potential in a safe and secure environment. We are very proud of our Ofsted Outstanding award.

Our Childcare Provision

Wearhead Primary School offers a range of childcare provision which we have listed below:
◦After School Clubs 2.45pm – 3.30pm/3.15pm – 4.15pm.
◦Pre-school provision for children aged 3 – 4 years olds. Free 15 hours provision for all
pre-school age children. Available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-12 noon, and Friday 9am-2.45pm
