Whitton Primary is situated in the centre of a large pre-war housing estate on the outskirts of North West Ipswich. There are 365 children including a 52 place nursery on roll (with 2 classes per year group) with age range from 3 to 11.
Our school is part of the Ipswich Primary Academies Trust.
Initially centred in Ipswich, we are a group of Suffolk schools aiming to make a real difference to education in our local area. Bringing together our skills and expertise, as well as learning from the best practice nationwide, our vision is to create a hub of outstanding practice in teaching and learning and real opportunities for the children in Suffolk to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Our children deserve to be in the best schools in the country! Ipswich Primary Academies Trust will relentlessly drive towards improvement and excellence for all by empowering and engaging our pupils, staff and parents. We will build the skills, behaviours and attitudes which will enable us all to be successful and fulfilled.
The school was built in 1939 and occupies two floors with spacious accommodation including two halls, learning lounge, art room and various small group spaces! There are separate dining and kitchen facilities and two playgrounds including adventure playground, astroturf and various climbing areas.
The children are grouped into 2 single age group classes per year group (R-Y6) and teachers work together in their phase teams. (EYFS & KS1 and KS2).
The school is part of the North West Ipswich Partnership working closely with the nearby schools, especially Castle Hill Junior/ Infants, Dale Hall, Highfield Nursery, Thomas Wolsey Academy, Ormiston Endeavour Academy.
Whitton School is committed to their multi-cultural policy and children and parents from many ethnic backgrounds play a large positive part in the life of the school.
The school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children.
We are very much a Community School and see ourselves giving to the community and enriching the community just as much as we see ourselves providing a secure and exciting centre for educating the children.

Our Childcare Provision
At Whitton School we have a 52 place Nursery Unit. Children attend either morning or afternoon sessions, a balanced group being in each session. Although this is located within the main school building, it has its own enclosed area with a garden.
The Nursery is important in helping with children’s attitude towards school. It also establishes a partnership with parents.
We aim to provide a comfortable, safe and happy place where the children can feel secure, learn to play, share, respect other people and feel loved and respected by others. We encourage the children to make choices, solve problems and become independent. We aim to find out what each child already knows and work on that to develop language and understanding.
We offer a wide variety of clubs that take place before school, lunch break and after school, including breakfast club. Members of staff and outside agencies run these.
