About Me
I am a qualified Primary school teacher with experience working in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. I am currently available for private tutoring for children aged 3-11. I have a Masters in Education.
I am available during the 6 weeks summer holiday for private tutoring, and on most weekdays and Saturday/Sunday. I am also available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings for both private tutoring and babysitting. I have worked with children in a variety of settings, and also worked with children from nursery age up to 18 years old. Prior to teaching, I was a full time nanny and only had to leave due to starting training to become a teacher. I am passionate about working with children, and my paid and voluntary work further emphasises this. I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in BsC Sociology, where I achieved a 2:1 with honours. I achieved my PGCE with QTS from the University of Buckingham. I completed and achieved a Masters in Education, whilst also continuing my full time job as a primary school teacher.
My Experience
Qualified Primary school teacher. During the Summer and my final year of my degree I worked for SNAAP (Special Needs Advisory and Activities Project) - working one-to-one with a disabled child/adult each day, where I performed personal care, providing and supervising activities and providing day trips for the children. This job also involved a huge amount of patience, and I had to make sure I remained calm in very stressful situations. I also had to be prepared for the unexpected and to always stay alert. I was a nanny for two children aged 3 and 5, and only left due to getting a place on the teacher training course. I have also been a babysitter for a family of four children aged 4-15. This involved general babysitting duties, bathing the two younger children, preparing meals, helping with homework and occasionally picking the children up from school and occasionally staying overnight. During Summer 2015 I also volunteered abroad in Bulgaria in a children's orphanage, in the Roma towns and at a centre for children with special needs. I helped to teach English, participated with indoor and outdoor games and also lead activities for the rest of the group. This involved a huge amount of creativity as I spoke very little Bulgarian and the children spoke very little English. I have gained experience in various primary schools working as a teaching assistant. Furthermore, I gained an in-depth understanding of safeguarding policies and the Special Educational Needs and Disability act.
