About Me
I am a qualified primary school teacher with experience from Reception - Y5. I live in a small countryside village in North Leeds and see myself as a caring, friendly and easy going individual. Outside of school, I enjoy reading non-fiction, swimming, outdoor sports and activities e.g. tennis, bike riding, hiking, at home science experiments. I also enjoy lots of cooking and baking (my cheesecakes are the star of the show at family dinners).
My Experience
I qualified as a teacher in 2019 (making a change from the legal sector to primary education), I started the journey to become a teacher because I wanted to help children fulfil their true potential and ensure children have what they need to succeed in further education, thrive in a top job and have a great life, by having consistently high expectations and providing an engaging and inclusive learning environment. My proudest moments during my teaching experience are children telling me I helped them understand something new and being able to create exciting learning environments both in and outside the classroom.
I have an in depth understanding of child safeguarding from my time at West Yorkshire Police as an investigator which taught me a lot about children’s mental, social and physical wellbeing; encouraging a more holistic approach.
I have experience and training in RWI Phonics, Mastery Maths, Talk for Writing. I am a writing champion in school whose focus is on sentence structure and Computing Lead.
