Hi there!
My name is Lauren and I've worked in childcare for 16 years and for the last 8 years been currently working as a nanny caring for children from birth to 15 years of age, providing an extra set of hands for busy family life whether that's providing flexible support for rota'd NHS shift workers, overnight weekend care, facilitating educational experiences and socialising little ones during the day or help for the first few months with a newborn. I try to accommodate your needs as best I can to help raising children that little bit easier.
I studied Early Education and Childcare at Langside College and have successfully achieved my NC and HNC in this course.
I have my PVG registration number and excellent references.
I have a 14 year old daughter and 2 sons, a 9 and 5 year old. We like to get out as much as possible when the weather allows us however there’s waterproof suits used often when it doesn’t!
Our usual outings are swimming, soft play and the local park with our 2 doodle dogs, there’s almost always a bike or scooter in tow and we try and visit farms and animal parks when possible as my children love animals.
I am always on the lookout for new experiences for the children to try.
My Experience
Unless it hasn't been required all the families I've previously worked with have been on a longterm basis until I was no longer needed but I’m still in regular contact with them as they become part of the family and I'm close by for any ad hoc care they may require.
I worked as a nursery practitioner before working as a nanny providing a high level of care to children within a private nursery and have worked in nurseries previous to that whilst completing my childcare qualifications.
I have also worked in an out of school care environment providing care for children aged 5 yrs -12 yrs and worked voluntary in a local primary school before starting my first year at college.
I have some knowledge and understanding of children with high functioning autism and aspergers due to growing up with family members who have been diagnosed with these additional support needs and have worked with children with childhood epilepsy and genetic syndromes.
I'm also Tracheostomy trained, familiar with PEG and NG tube feeding and have experience of administering at home oxygen and any needed medication.
I also have experience in parenthood and life skills thanks to having my own children.
