About Me

Hi there, I'm Charlotte!

(Please note: I'm currently only available on Monday and Tuesday, however, I will be available an extra third day after August/September and should be flexible with days :) )

I grew up in North West London, where I built a strong foundation in childcare in my local area. I then moved to Brighton for a few years, where I worked as a Nanny and a Nursery Assistant. My partner and I moved to Exmouth, Devon before the pandemic to spend time with my parents. I worked with some lovely young families there and it felt particularly special to help during such a strange and fractured time. Since then I’ve happily settled in Leyton, and worked on the other side of the nanny world, as a matchmaker for a childcare tech company, bringing families and nanny’s together. I learned a lot in the role but have found myself missing working one on one with kids - so I have gotten back to what I love the most - working with children.

I am hoping to continue my education part-time later this year. I intend to focus on childhood development and mental health, as well as business studies in hopes that I can one day use my experience to create a space for families where they can play, learn and enjoy each other in a calm and welcoming environment.

I am currently taking care of a lovely 9-month-year-old boy in Walthamstow 2 days a week, however, this will be going down to one day a week following August/September and there is a degree of flexibility on days, so please don't hesitate to reach out if our needs match.

In my spare time I enjoy writing fiction (that rarely sees the light of day!) reading, arts and crafts and lovely long walks.

I truly adore working with children and find helping children develop and grow to be endlessly rewarding.

My Experience

I have worked in childcare in one way or another for the last ten years.

Initially, as a learning support assistant in a primary school, providing SEN support for the children.

Following that I worked as a nanny for a family for four years. We grew very close and it was amazing to watch the girl I cared for progress and grow.
While there my duties were:
-Organising and implementing their daily routines and helping her to grow, learn and develop.
-Helping with after-school activities like homework.
-Providing healthy meals and snacks.
-Providing supervision and constant care.
-Stimulating children to be creative, read and be active.
-Planning and organising age related activities.
-Attending any social events with the child.

Once I moved to Brighton, I worked in a family of three G:10 B:7. The responsibilities were similar to those above, as well as housekeeping and food shopping/meal planning duties.

Following that I enjoyed the opportunity to work as a nursery assistant. The nursery had aged five months to 4.5 years. In the nursery I had to be adaptable, often working with several age groups in one day, supporting other members of staff in their teaching or leading a group or 1:1 activities myself.

After moving to Devon and pre-COVID-19 I cared for two lovely babies in Topsham, it was great being able to take advantage of the beautiful countryside right on their doorsteps, so they could enjoy long walks and play outside.

From September 2020 I cared for a 11 month year old little boy. I loved watching and helping him through developmental milestones such as walking and talking (and everything in between!) I took great joy in developing activities and games that could help with his motor skills/concentration/creativity etc. whilst still ensuring he enjoys himself.

I am currently taking care of a lovely 9 month-year-old boy in Walthamstow 2 days a week.

Working in the above positions I was also doing babysitting, overnight sitting, holiday nannying etc. for various local families, ages ranging from six months to eleven years.
