About Me
My name is Hayley McCann, and I am a fully registered childminder and a member of the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA). Together with my family, I create a warm and welcoming home where children can thrive in a family-oriented environment. I am a mother to three grown-up children: two daughters and one son. My eldest daughter works in Financial Crime, my youngest is a Physiotherapist and my son is a Firefighter. My son currently lives at the family home with myself and my husband.
We live in a bungalow with a spacious, secure garden that provides a safe outdoor play area for the children. With over 20 years of experience working with children, I find it incredibly rewarding to help them grow and develop their unique personalities. I am committed to offering a high standard of care by creating a safe, nurturing environment with a strong emphasis on learning and development through play.
My Experience
As a childminder, my goal is to create a stimulating and exciting environment that creates children's cognitive development through engaging, age-appropriate activities. As a parent, I understand that children thrive when given the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and educational experiences. I make it a priority to plan one or two outdoor activities each day. Some of the activities involve attending playgroups, visiting soft play areas, exploring local parks, singing, dance, yoga and also take trips to the library. Indoors, I encourage creativity through arts and crafts, reading and promote learning through play, both inside the house and in the garden.
Before becoming a childminder, I spent several years working as a dental nurse in the dental and orthodontic field, where I regularly treated children of all ages. In this role, I was responsible for educating them about the importance of dental care. In addition, I previously owned and operated a dance school, where I taught a variety of dance styles to children as young as two years old.

Our son was in Hayley’s care 4 days a week from the age of 1 through to 3 years old when she supported his transition into nursery. I simply don’t have the words to express how wonderful this experience was. Any mum knows how hard it is when you first give away your child, your world, into the arms of someone else for the first time… but Hayley made it all so easy.
Hayley’s calm energy is infectious, she adores the children (and they her!) and takes them on beautifully thought out adventures every day. She goes above and beyond in every single measure - and the set up at home, in the garden, and around her lovely family is just perfect for the wee ones.
It didn’t just feel like he was welcomed into her lovely family, but that we all were - and we’re still in touch now a year later! Our little boy still adores her, as do we… She’s been such a huge and influential part on his development and I don’t think we could ever thank her (or recommend her) enough.

My little boy has been attending Hayley's service for nearly two years and it has been a wonderful experience. We first started with Hayley after my son struggled to settle in a new nursery following a house move. We couldn't have been more pleased that we decided to change from the nursery to Hayley as he has blossomed under her care, coming increasingly out of his shell and developing new friendships.

Hayley is an exceptional childminder. From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease, as she is incredibly attentive and caring with the children. Her home offers a warm and positive environment and our child was always eager to participate in the various indoor and outdoor activities, she thoughtfully planned each week. We were impressed by how dedicated she was with our child’s learning and development, receiving seasonal emails detailing the exciting plans she had in store. We’ve continued to stay in touch with Hayley, as our child truly adores her!
