About Me
Hello, my name is Vanessa, I'm a registered childminder with 25 years experience in childcare. I have 2 daughters ages 14 and 16. We live very close to Darrick Wood Infant and Junior Schools in Orpington. I am a qualified teacher with 18 years experience teaching KS1 and KS2. I have a child friendly house, with lots of toys, dressing up and age appropriate activities, and can cater for every age group. I have a purpose built playroom, a large garden with playhouse, trampoline, sand pit and climbing equipment. We go on daily trips to parks, farms, toddler groups and places of interest.
I have two places available from September 2024.
My Experience
I am Osted registered and have attended all necessary first aid courses, including paediatric first aid.
I have been childminding for eight years. Before starting childminding I taught year 6 in Westminster and then at a local school.
I have worked as a teacher for 18 years teaching KS1 and KS2. I was on the senior leadership team and have been a teacher governor.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified primary school teacher. I have taught for the last 18 years in both KS1 and KS1.
I registered to become a childminder in January 2014.
I have a BA ed in History and Education.
I have up to date paediatric first aid training and safeguarding, FGM, Food Hygiene and Prevention courses.
My Availability
I am available to childmind from Monday - Thursday. I can take young children or children of school age. I live near Darrick Wood School.
I am able to do school drop offs and pick ups from Darrick Wood School and Darrick Wood Pre School.

This beautiful lady is the best I could ask for.
Professional, understanding and kind.
I was anxious at first about leaving my son with someone else but after being in her home and seeing her interact with my child, my heart melted. She is a natural at what she does and she genuinely cares about the children she looks after. Her happy home is just the right place for my son when I am not available and he comes back to me well looked after. We felt very welcome by her and her husband and I hope this is the start of a very good partnership.
