About Me

I have been working in the childcare sector now for 11 years, throughout after school clubs, nannying and working as a P.S.A in schools. I am qualified with a SVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. I studied this at North Edinburgh Childcare. I attended the Academy there in August 2012 and completed my course in October 2013. I worked at CLASP after school club in leith primary. During my time at CLASP, I supported a range of play activities for children, as well as providing snack each day and ensuring safety at all times. The tutorials at college and the hands on practical work at CLASP have given me a knowledge of Child Development, Child Protection, Legislation and Play. Now (since July 2015) working as a Nanny I have taken the skills I learned at the after school club and college and used them in the home environment. I enjoy having more one to one time with the children helping them with homework, developing play as well as doing housework and making fresh healthy meals for the children. I also plan lots activities such as arts and crafts, baking and outdoor activities. I cared for a girl that struggled with her speech and attended speech therapy lessons and I have had the privilege of taking her to her sessions and providing lessons at home to help her develop her speech. I believe it's important to provide fun educational learning for children outside of school. I am a reliable, fun, friendly, creative, flexible and hardworking person. I have excellent references that can be given on request. I also love animals and have a little cat called Ralph who I'm obsessed with! So if you have any pets that also need care I'm more than happy to help.

I had two years out of childcare as I've been working as reception/management at a tattoo studio. The hours in the studio are part time and I would love to get back into childcare in the afternoon. I can be available from 2:30pm onwards but potentially can be flexible with hours. Feel free to send me a message if you would like to discuss options further !

From a personal point of view, I come from an artistic background, I am a qualified professional photographer who also enjoys drawing & have previously helped curate an exhibition of my own work & other local artists at The Biscuit Factory in Leith. I like music, I did some voluntary work with KOR Records, which is an independent record label that creates music projects for young people with additional support needs. I have many tattoos, all which can be/are covered. I like to look after animals and have been employed to cat sit for people in their home when they are away. I enjoy spending time with family & friends.
