My Summary
About Me
Hello and welcome to my childminding setting.
I provide a warm, safe, and nurturing home environment where children can feel comfortable, valued, and supported. I believe every child should have the opportunity to explore, learn, and develop at their own pace while feeling happy and secure.
I am married and have four daughters, so family life and caring for children has always been a big part of my world. We also have two small, friendly dogs who are very much part of our family and are used to being around children. My husband (Scott) and two oldest daughter are registered as assistants and help out.
I enjoy incorporating nature, outdoor play, and hands on experiences into the children’s day. I believe children learn best through play, curiosity, and real life experiences, and I aim to create opportunities for them to explore, discover, and build confidence both indoors and outdoors.
I am currently welcoming new families who may be in need of childcare support and would love to help support your child’s early learning and development.
If you would like to learn more or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I would be very happy to have a chat and arrange a visit to see if my setting is the right fit for your family.
My Experience
I have over 25 years of experience working with children in a variety of early years childcare settings. Throughout my career I have worked in nurseries, schools, as a nanny, and as a childminder. This wide range of experience has given me a broad understanding of how different childcare environments support children’s care, learning, and development.
I studied Childcare and Education at Stevenson College for two years, where I gained my HNC in Childcare and Education. During my studies I completed placements in a variety of nurseries, which gave me valuable hands on experience and helped me develop an understanding of how children learn and develop in different early years settings.
After completing my studies, I continued working within nursery and school environments where I gained further practical experience supporting young children’s development. Through working in these settings I developed a strong understanding of how different childcare settings operate and how practitioners can support children’s learning through play, routines, and meaningful interactions.
I also hold a PDA Level 8 in Childhood Practice, which has further developed my professional knowledge and understanding of early years education.
Throughout my career I have gained experience working with different early years philosophies and approaches, including Montessori and Froebel. I have also had the opportunity to work within forest kindergarten environments, where children are encouraged to explore and learn through outdoor play and experiences in nature. These approaches have influenced my practice and support my belief that children learn best through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
My years of experience have helped me understand that every child is unique. I believe in working closely with families to ensure each child’s individual needs, interests, and stage of development are supported. I aim to provide a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to explore, learn, and develop at their own pace.
