About Me

I have a keen interest in the English Language. I love Literature, Film and Theatre. After gaining my English Language and Literature degree, I spent some time writing poetry and short stories. This led to me gaining a scholarship at The University of Sheffield where I studied my MA in English Studies. I have tutored 3 of my own children - two of whom gained places and studied at KEVI Handsworth Grammar School and a daughter who gained a place and studied at Edgbaston High School. My eldest son was also offered a fee paying place at KE High School for Boys in Edgbaston. Both my daughter and son were selected due to their command of English and literary application in the creative writing aspect of the examination. This spurred me further to support young students to achieve their very best and succeed no matter what the obstacles may be. I have a kind and caring approach in order to get the very best outcomes for each child. In promoting pupils' intellectual curiosity they will thrive in a smaller group or as a 1 to 1 if you should decide.

My Experience

I have been in the education field for 20 years. I have previous experience of teaching A Level and marking as an examiner for A Level English Literature and GCSE English Language. I am currently an English Lead at my current school and have vast experience teaching in Year 6. I can tutor KS1 and KS2 English and Maths. I can also tutor for the 11+ providing pupils with the confidence, speed and support needed for the GL assessment entrance exams. I can offer tutoring and can teach English:- KS3 to KS5.
