About Me
As a sole charge nanny for the past 8 years I have enjoyed looking after many children of all different ages. I have had wonderful experiences working for a Luxury holiday company allowing me to nanny in the Alps and Mallorca. My current job is nannying for one family in Newton Mearns, looking after a 3 year old and six year old. My duties as a sole charge nanny include planning activities, meal prep, attending classes/groups, outdoor adventure days, educational learning and day to day care of the child. I also casually nanny for three families within Ayrshire planning outdoor adventure days, working holidays (at home and abroad) and working long weekends while parents are on work trips or holidays. I have previously worked in two nurseries in Ayrshire and in Glasgow before moving on to become a fully qualified outdoor instructor in many outdoor activities. My family have fostered babies and young children for nineteen years, this has allowed me to gain a vast amount of experience throughout my life looking after young children and understanding the day to day routines and challenges of this. I love the outdoors and enjoy many different activities such as water skiing, kayaking, climbing and skiing.
My Experience
I have worked for this luxury travel company nannying in Courchevel & Mallorca. This role allowed me to nanny in a kids club setting and to private nanny for families in holiday villas. My role in the Kids Club included encouraging play within the club, helping to organise drop of and pick-ups for different ski schools ensuring good time keeping, taking the children out to participate in many different activities and experiences such as ice skating, sledging, soft play and bowling. In the evenings I also did extra private nannying for the children while the parents went out to have dinner and relax, this included indoor games, imaginative play, crafts and bedtime routines.
Private Nannying in Mallorca, included going to the villa each day and coming up with a plan for the day. I planned many different craft activities, games, and snack prep throughout the week to keep the children entertained and happy throughout their stay. During this time I also did extra nannying in the evenings while the parents went out for dinner.
As a nanny in Ayrshire my role included preparing nutritious meals, taking the children to different clubs and local activities, homework, keeping the home tidy, lots of fun days out during school holidays and bedtime routines. I love getting involved and encourage lots of play and learning both indoors and out. I have frequently joined the families on their holidays to the Alps and the North of Scotland.
This role has enabled me to create a lovey bond with both the children and the parents. I often look after the children while their parents are away long weekends or work trips this shows the trust the families have with me and how comfortable the children are having me look after them for long periods of time.
In sole charge of children, adults, school groups and youth groups as an activity instructor this allowed me to become confident in taking control of activities and ensuring everyone's safety. I promoted team working, problem solving & meeting objectives for all different school groups and abilities. I encouraged groups to work as a team when doing activities such as raft building, climbing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding and many more. I enjoyed seeing the end result of the team building exercises and seeing everyone have fun in the outdoors.
