About Us
Happycrew is a warm, welcoming private nursery set within the extensive grounds of Margaret Wix Primary School in St Albans (run completely independently). We’re lucky to have access to large, safe outdoor spaces, a Forest School and offer rich, engaging activities that are thoughtfully planned around each child’s age, interests and stage of development. At the heart of Happycrew is how we make children and families feel – safe, heard, unique, valued and cherished.
Happycrew Childcare Ltd has been proudly supporting families for over 10 years, with our brand new Happycrew Nursery opening in January 2023.
We have three lovely rooms:
Baby Room (0–18 months)
Toddler Room (18 months–3 years)
Pre-School Room (3–rising 5 years)
Each space has a cosy, home-from-home feel with natural resources and plenty of opportunities for open-ended play. Children enjoy time together throughout the day and have access to a private gated garden, a beautiful forest school, allotment, playgrounds, outdoor reading nook, stage and vast green space - all within the school grounds.
Learning happens through play and is child-led wherever possible.

Our Fees
- Childcare from £93.00 per day
Our fees are fully inclusive of nappies, wipes, home cooked meals and snacks and everything your child will need. Please view our website.
Fees are payable 52 weeks of the year.

We couldn’t be happier with the care and dedication provided at this childcare setting. The team truly goes above and beyond, offering wonderful extras like Spanish lessons, engaging song times that our child absolutely loves, scooter Wednesdays and gymnastics. It was a no-brainer for us to sign up our second child as soon as she’s old enough. We’re especially impressed by their commitment to inclusivity with employing a BSL teacher to support our second-born. Our eldest has learnt so much more than previous settings.
This place is everything we hoped for and more!

Mienna and Happycrew looked after our son for two years (from 12 months old) and we were really lucky to find them.
They provided a perfect balance between a nursery and family-based childminder so he had a small peer group and familiar adults to look after them all. Natural resources and a focus on developing children's curiosity through child-led play was perfect for encouraging his interests and play.
He has now gone to pre-school ready for the next stage ahead. He will really miss Happycrew but has had a great start to his early years.

Our son and daughter both love their days at Happycrew. I was worried about them settling in as my oldest had to transition from another setting and my daughter has some additional needs, but Mienna worked with us on a really flexible plan and they now run through the door in the morning without looking back!
The setting is outdoors focused and perfectly suited to let the children explore and play freely. There are no highchairs and meal times look really inclusive with them all sat round a low table together like a family. There are always new activities and games that we hear about, and they come home singing new songs every week. When we pick them up they're almost always smiling and happy and have eaten lots of lovely nourishing food.
I feel really grateful to have found such a wonderful setting.
