About Me

Hello, My Name is Barbara and I am a NEST qualified maternity nurse from London. I am a highly experienced maternity nurse/ night nanny with over six years of professional experience, specialising in single and multiple births. It's a role that I thoroughly enjoy, and was spearheaded into taking professionally after I had my last set of children (six in total, twins who were born prematurely at 28 weeks. It helps me to be able to empathise with new mothers who have newborns because mentally and physically I have an understanding of what mother, baby, as well as the whole family may be experiencing. Not only that, sometimes it can be daunting, nerve wrecking when it is your first time, or maybe you took a break, or maybe every now and then, you need a break. Whatever the circumstances I strive to give a reliable, trustworthy service, giving parents peace of mind. I endeavour to aid and assist to the needs of baby and family providing a calm, peaceful and stimulating environment, where babies can thrive. As already mentioned I am also qualified, although I am highly experienced with my own babies and other peoples babies, I wanted to go to school, to get a more rounded maternity nurse education, broadening my knowledge.
No matter if it is your first time or your fourth time, every baby is different, and experience can be different, but my quality of care will always be outstanding.

My Experience

I have experience as a maternity nurse, night nanny as well as a maternity care assistant at the Royal London Hospital. My work with babies are with those who have had children before or with those who are first time parents.
I have Knowledge and experience with babies with various conditions, such as
colic
acid reflux
fever
premature
metabolic deficiencies

My experience with private families includes:
being a mothers help
Giving parent/parents rest, by taking over every now and then during the day, but mainly during the night. This included changing, and feeding, unless the baby was being breastfed.
Providing support, tips and guidance on how to take care of a newborn
Encouraging parents to feel more confident in the care they are providing for their child/children.
Educating parents on how to swaddle their baby
Advising a first time mum on how to carefully breast and bottle feed her baby who was tongue tied.
Performing laundry, ironing, nursery cleaning, sterilising and preparing bottles.
As a maternity assistant, I was responsible for looking after women who were in labour. The duties involved taking blood pressure, advising on how to breast feed as well as liaising with doctors and midwives about quality of care.
