Childcare Job In London Borough Of Southwark
About Me
We are Vicky and Will and we live in East Dulwich, South East London with our two boys Fred and Max. We have lived here for 8 years and are lucky to have lots of friends with young children in the area.
East Dulwich is a great place to live, with everything you could need close by and we are about a 5-minute walk from the beautiful Dulwich Park. Lordship Lane has a great selection of independent shops, restaurants, cafes, a cinema and pubs which are all less than a 10-minute walk from our house.
We have a 4 bedroom house, with a large garden, our au pair would have the top floor of the house to themselves which has a double bedroom and separate bathroom (bath and shower).
Our current au pair has been with us since September 2017 and is leaving at the end of October. We are looking for someone to come and join our family unit from late October 2018 for at least a year.
We really enjoy cooking and cook a wide variety of different meals every night which we would provide for our au pair as well.
We are a family of four; the two boys are Fred aged 4.5 and Max aged 2.5.
Fred started school this term and absolutely loves it. He is funny and kind and loves running around; he also loves diggers (and anything to do with transport) and riding his bike.
Max is a very happy little boy who loves riding his balance bike, football, running, exploring and spending time in the garden playing with toys (or mud!) or playing in the park. Max goes to nursery 3 days a week.
I am a Maths teacher in a local secondary school, and Will runs his own business in central London. We are very welcoming and friendly and love spending time outdoors; we are very active and both like cycling, swimming and running when we have time. We enjoy cooking, going to the park and spending time together as a family as well as with our friends and socialising.
My Requirements
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who loves spending time with children and who wants to get to know our boys.
We want someone who has experience of looking after children and who is confident when taking the children where they needed to be. We would like someone who enjoys playing with, and entertaining the children; someone who is keen to take them out every day, whether it’s to a café, the library, or for a play in the park.
Although the boys are still only young, they are very active and they love playing anything that involves a rugby ball, football, tennis ball, make that any type of ball; so this role would suit somebody who is active, likes sports and has lots of energy and likes spending time outside.
We would like a non-smoker and someone who is happy to prepare healthy, well-balanced meals for the boys.
Fred is at school Monday-Friday 8.50am-3.20pm. Max is at nursery Wednesday - Friday 8.30am-5.30pm. School and nursery are both a 10-minute walk from our house.
A standard week-
Monday and Tuesday: Full time
Giving the boys breakfast and dropping Fred at school.
Looking after Max all day before collecting Fred at 3.20pm, entertaining both of them followed by tea time until we return home from work at 5.30pm.
Wednesday-Friday: Part-time
7-9am- breakfast followed by nursery and school drop off
3.20-5.30pm pick up from school and nursery, play time and tea.
We would like you to do 2 nights of babysitting per week which will include a Friday or Saturday night.
As I am a teacher, I have long holidays which means that during these holidays you will be able to have a lot more time off and it is likely that you won't need to work every Thursday and Friday during these weeks, although we may need you from time to time.
