My Summary
About Me
I have a great deal of experience supporting young people in their homes through private SEND family support and funded support as an EOTAS tutor. My background is primary teaching (age 4-11 years) and SEND teaching (age 5-16 years) and last year I transitioned into full time SEND support stepping aside from school-based teaching.
I have a deep, implicit understanding of how to support a young person with complex needs and have had remarkable engagement with the young people whom I support- children who are ‘hard to reach’ and have been let down by the education system. I always begins with the child, looking for their interests and strengths, removing demands to help them feel safe and in control. I show a genuine interest in their world ensuring I am not 'phoney'- young people can see straight through that! My approach is creative and flexible working very much ‘in the moment’ to support a young person in the best way possible, bringing in learning opportunities where they naturally occur.
Being fit and active, I have a youthful approach to life. I am not neuro-divergent myself but I live and breathe neuro-divergence in both my professional and personal life.
I have outstanding interpersonal skills and I am an extremely strong team player. I am able to ‘read the room’, recognising what needs to be done and ensure that it is achieved. I have plenty of common sense being unflappable and able to remain calm in every scenario.
I am open to a range of roles so please get in touch.
