Babysitter in Barton-upon-Humber
My Summary
About Me
I'm a qualified and experienced children's practitioner with over 15 years of experience supporting children and young people from newborns through to teenagers in homes, schools, residential settings, online mental health services, and the community.
I currently work as a Children's and Young People's Mental Health Practitioner, supporting young people with their emotional wellbeing, alongside serving as an Independent Fostering Panel Member, helping to make important decisions about the safety and care of children. These roles have strengthened my knowledge of child development, safeguarding, attachment, trauma, neurodiversity, and supporting children through challenging life experiences.
Alongside my professional work, I have personal experience of kinship care and the Special Guardianship process, giving me a genuine understanding of the challenges some families face and the importance of providing children with stability, warmth, and consistency.
Families often describe me as calm, friendly, reliable and full of energy. I love getting children away from screens where possible and encouraging curiosity through games, crafts, baking, reading, outdoor adventures, science experiments, imaginative play and exploring nature. I believe children thrive when they feel safe, listened to, and able to have fun.
I'm trained in safeguarding and emergency first aid, hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, and have extensive experience supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and children who have experienced trauma. I pride myself on adapting my approach to each child's individual personality and needs.
Outside of work I enjoy hiking, climbing, kickboxing, travelling, reading and anything science-related. I'm a non-smoker, don't drink alcohol, and am happy around pets.
Whether you're looking for occasional babysitting, regular childcare, or someone experienced and confident supporting children with additional emotional or behavioural needs, I aim to provide a safe, nurturing and enjoyable environment where children can relax, have fun and be themselves.
My Experience
I've been caring for children for over 15 years, beginning as a babysitter for neighbours and family friends before becoming a nanny for two young children aged 2 and 4. During this time I managed school and nursery runs, meal times, bedtime routines and planned lots of fun, educational activities, from baking and crafts to science experiments and days out.
I have extensive experience caring for babies, including feeding expressed milk, following sleep routines, supporting early developmental milestones and providing calm, responsive care during those important first years.
My career has since taken me into a wide range of professional roles working with children and young people. I've supported children in schools, outdoor education settings, residential care, youth work, and now as a Children's and Young People's Mental Health Practitioner. I also serve as an Independent Fostering Panel Member, giving me an excellent understanding of safeguarding, child development, attachment and the needs of children from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Throughout my career I've worked with children who have autism, ADHD, anxiety, low mood, trauma, attachment difficulties and other additional needs. I understand that every child is different, and I adapt my approach to suit their personality, interests and stage of development.
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, Emergency First Aid training, and regularly complete safeguarding and child development training as part of my professional roles. Above all, my aim is always the same: to provide children with a safe, caring, engaging environment where they feel happy, confident and valued while giving parents complete peace of mind.
