About Me
We are a friendly family looking for help on 1-2 weekday afternoons, looking after our two girls (G9 and G5) after school, helping with homework and taking them to after-school activities locally. The role would also include some additional evening babysitting on an ad hoc basis. We live in the West End near the Botanic Gardens. Both my husband and I work for the BBC.
My Requirements
AFTER SCHOOL HELP - STARTING 2025
We are looking for help with our two girls (G9 and G5) after school on 1-2 afternoons a week, starting in the new academic year - from September onwards. The days we require help will be Tuesday and/or Thursday, between c 3pm - 6pm. In addition we are looking for help with evening babysitting on an ad hoc basis.
The role would include collecting the girls from school, walking them home (we live 5-10mins walk away from their school), playing with the children, helping with homework, preparing simple food for kids' dinner and tidying/clearing up. It will also extend to sometimes helping with household chores related to the children (eg putting away their washing).
Depending on our schedule, the role might also involve taking the girls to their after-school activities (eg gymnastics) - but these would all be very local, and reachable on foot (or possibly subway). There's no requirement to drive.
The girls are both naturally outgoing, chatty and sociable - and tend to form lovely bonds with whoever helps look after them.
As well as our girls, we have a son (B11) - but he will be starting senior school in August and is pretty independent in terms of getting himself to and from school, and to some of his local after school activities. But the role may sometimes extend to helping with him as well, in terms of looking after him in the house (eg for evening babysitting, it would be the three kids at home)
We are looking for someone energetic and fun-loving who genuinely enjoys the company of primary school age kids - but who is also kind, calm, patient and dependable, with really good initiative - who is willing to just muck in with our happy but very busy household.
Ideally we are looking for someone who is seeking 1 year of employment or more (eg is looking to work for the full academic year - and thus can broadly commit to regular weekly slots during term time until summer 2026)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Native / fluent English speaker
- Available Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons between 3pm - 6pm
- Proven working experience with primary school age children - as a babysitter, nanny, after school helper, or working in a kids' club or school in some capacity.
- 2 x references from previous childcare roles will be required - but this could include as a babysitter to neighbours or family friends
