About Me

Hi, I’m Catalina! I’m an experienced Early Years Educator and Montessori Teacher with over 13 years of experience working with children.

I’m passionate about supporting children’s development, nurturing their curiosity and helping them grow into confident, happy and independent individuals.

I’m naturally bubbly, warm, caring and playful, and I love creating fun and meaningful experiences for children. I’m also fluent in Spanish and have a great love for the outdoors, nature and animals.

My Experience

I have over 13 years of experience working with children across a variety of settings, including Montessori nurseries, private nannying, babysitting, educational holiday camps and international community projects.

For nearly 10 years, I worked as a Montessori Teacher at a nursery school in the heart of Crouch End, London, supporting children aged 2 to 5. During this time, I developed a deep understanding of early childhood development and the importance of recognising each child’s unique personality, interests and abilities. My approach focuses on creating nurturing and stimulating environments where children feel confident to explore, develop independence and enjoy meaningful learning experiences.

Alongside my teaching career, I have also gained experience in nannying and babysitting through informal, ad hoc arrangements with families, mainly providing after-school and occasional childcare for children aged 11 months to 10 years. These experiences have allowed me to support children in a more personal, home-based environment, adapting to different family routines and individual needs while building trusting relationships with both children and parents.

On a personal level, I had the opportunity to support my 12-year-old nephew during a challenging period in Colombia. This meaningful experience deepened my empathy and reinforced my belief in the importance of emotional security, patience and compassionate guidance in helping children develop confidence and resilience.

Earlier in my career, I was involved in coordinating educational and community projects supporting vulnerable children in South Africa. I worked with international volunteers from diverse backgrounds, organising educational activities and meaningful experiences for children and young people. This experience strengthened my leadership, organisational and communication skills while broadening my understanding of children’s needs across different cultural and social environments.

My Qualifications

I hold a Diploma in Early Years Montessori Education from Montessori Centre International (MCI) in London, specialising in children aged 0 to 7.

Through my studies, I developed a deep understanding of child development and how different areas of learning are interconnected. I had the privilege of studying the Montessori philosophy, an educational approach that I truly value for its respect for each child’s individuality, natural curiosity and unique pace of development. It encourages children to explore their interests, build independence and develop confidence through meaningful experiences, guided by the principle of freedom within limits.

Additionally, I hold a Level 2 Certificate in Early Years Education and Care, which I completed at the College of Islington in London. This qualification provided me with a strong foundation in early childhood development, childcare practices and supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

I also hold certifications in Paediatric First Aid and Level 3 Safeguarding, reflecting my commitment to children’s safety, wellbeing and providing a secure, nurturing environment.

I have a Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, reflecting my commitment to children’s safety, protection and wellbeing.
