About Me
I am a qualified primary school teacher and I worked as a full time teacher in both KS2 and KS1 for 10 years. I also taught as a supply teacher in Reception (EYFS), before changing career. I offer Term Time ONLY (39 school weeks per year) Ofsted Registered childminding to Early Years Children of all ages.
I have a daughter and son (both primary age) and I decided to become a full time childminder in 2017 so that I could enjoy working from home, whilst still utilising my knowledge of teaching and learning and continuing to work with children and their families.
I am passionate about helping children to enjoy learning through play and creative, fun activities. I encourage them to develop self confidence and all necessary life skills such as being polite, taking turns, perseverence and being part of a team. My focus is to provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can develop as well rounded, happy individuals.
I am ofsted registered, have a full 12 hour paediatric first aid, dbs, full uk driving licence with no points. I am a member of Pacey (Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years).
I take the Early Years children in my care on regular outings to the local parks such as Harrow Lodge and Langtons, The Chase and Hornchurch country park, regular library sessions, as well as forests and occasional farms/ animal sanctuary and sometimes a playgroup, depending on the childrens' personal routines. I cover all aspects of the EYFS within our weekly routines. I am keen to work with parents to meet the needs of all children who I care for and ensure that they experience consistency of care. I collect from Hylands Primary School on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
I co- work with another childminder during some mornings, so that the children get to participate in slightly larger group activities and socialise with more children of similar ages. We can also then provide focused activities and tasks for different age groups to help aid each child's stage of development.
Depending on the children's nap times, I sometimes attend a play group and a library music group, so that the children are able to experience socialising and playing in different environments, with access to different resources and activities.
My Experience
I have 10 years experience as a full time primary school teacher, teaching in the juniors and infants and experience of reception. Throughout my career I have had regular experience with a vast range of special educational needs, giving basic first aid to children, and supporting a variety of social and behavioural needs in children.
I have had regular safeguarding training, as well as a vast array of training relating to teaching and learning. I complete up to date Early Years and childcare training through Pacey and have paediatric first aid training, Pacey membership, DBS update and public liability insurance.
I also have a daughter and son, as well as nieces and nephews, so I have enjoyed vast experience of looking after children in my home and taking them out and about.

Our daughter was looked after by Amanda from 1.5-3 years old and knowing how safe and happy she was there made my work day much easier.
Amanda takes exceptionally good care of the children at her setting and provides lots of activities to stretch and stimulate them. I loved receiving photos of what they were getting up to each day and seeing the progress my daughter was making while she was there. They went on visits to the library, parks, playground etc. and my daughter really benefitted from the time spent in Amanda’s garden in the summer as we didn’t have much outdoor space at home.
I really appreciated Amanda’s advice and reassurance with things like minor health issues, potty training and preparing for pre-school.
Amanda’s own two children are lovely and our daughter was always excited about going to collect them from school and spending time with them and the other older children towards the end of the day.
We moved out of the area and were so sad to say goodbye but we will keep in touch. I highly recommend Amanda’s childminding services.

My son was in Amanda care for just short of 2 years and we couldn't be happier with not only the care Amanda provided, the home from home environment, but the amazing progress he made whilst being there. Amanda would update you regularly throughout the day by sending photos of all the fantastic activities they would be doing. Having had to go back to work when he was just 11monrhs old this made the transition so much easier for Mt partner and I. Using the app Baby Days, I was able to see when my son napped,what he had eaten and any toilet movement he had throughout the day.
Everyday my son would be excited to go to Amanda's and would run in with a big smile on his face every morning. Amanda showed such care, attention and most of all patience with all the children. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better childminder and would highly recommend Amanda to anyone.
