About Me
I am a divorced, single parent with 2 little boys. I work full time.
My Requirements
Family Assistant / After-School Help – Flexible Part-Time Role
We’re a single-mum household with two boys aged Noah,10 and Jacob, 11, looking for a reliable, warm, proactive and organised Family Assistant to become an extra pair of hands during the week.
We’re a fun, relaxed and busy household. The boys are very independent and self-sufficient— they get on with their school prep independently, entertain themselves and can even prepare some of their own meals. This is not a hands\-on nanny role; they mainly need a responsible adult around for school pick-ups, dinner and general supervision.
The role is really about helping me keep family life organised and the household running smoothly. I’d particularly love someone who notices what needs doing and takes initiative, rather than needing a detailed task list every day.
Hours
- Tuesday–Friday
- Minimum 2–3 hours per day
- Usually around 4:00–6:00/ latest 6:30pm
- School pick-up is at either 4pm or 5pm, depending on the day
- Every other Thursday until approximately 10pm
- Additional/ad hoc babysitting by agreement
- Flexible working arrangement
Household & Family Support
- Keep the downstairs family areas and kitchen tidy
- Reset the family areas — picking up cups, snack wrappers and the bits and pieces the boys inevitably leave around
- Unload and reload the dishwasher
- Wash and dry the boys’ clothes
- Iron clothes from the previous day and put them away in wardrobes and drawers
- Keep an eye on everyday essentials such as milk and flag or replace things when we’re running low
- Occasional grocery/top\-up shops
- Help unpack suitcases and put things away after holidays
- Generally help keep the household organised and running smoothly
School & Boys
- Pick up the boys from school Tuesday–Friday — school is only around 3 minutes drive from home
- Give them dinner and supervise them preparing something themselves occasionally
- Prepare and pack sports bags, PE kit and other school kit needed for the following day
- Help make sure they have everything they need ready for school
- General after-school supervision
- No homework/prep supervision required — the boys manage this independently
Occasional Errands
- Drop parcels at the Post Office or Evri parcel point
- Pick up groceries or household essentials
- Other similar small local errands when needed
Babysitting
- Every other Thursday until approximately 10pm
- Occasional additional babysitting by agreement
Optional Overnight Help
In the future, there may occasionally be an opportunity to stay overnight for one or a few nights with the boys\. This is completely optional and would only be arranged if you’re comfortable and things are working well. It’s not mandatory.
What I’m Looking For
- Must have your own car
- Reliable and punctual
- Warm and comfortable around older, independent children
- Proactive — someone who naturally spots what needs doing
- Organised and good at keeping track of the little things that make family life run smoothly
- Happy with a varied mixture of household organisation, errands and light childcare/supervision
- Comfortable with flexible working
- Ideally someone who would enjoy becoming a regular and trusted part of our household
Pay
£20 per hour and £60 per month towards fuel costs
Most importantly, we’re a happy, fun and relaxed home. As a single mum, I’m looking for someone dependable who can become a trusted extra pair of hands and make the everyday logistics of family life that little bit easier.
