My name is Melissa, and I am 53 and have 2 grown up children.
I am an energetic, friendly, creative and a highly dependable nanny who has more
than 20 years’ experience of caring for and nurturing children of all ages and abilities.
I am a fully qualified flexible child carer. I readily and happily adapt to changing
routines and schedules both of children and parents, with ease and assurance. I'm
highly committed to instilling inner confidence, good manners, having a happy heart
and embedding awareness for safety. I inspire the children in my care to become
happy positive people.
As well as being a private nanny to the same family for the past 12 years, I have also worked as an Individual Needs Assistant working as a one to one with two autistic children in a
primary school. Post Covid I have become a holiday/travel nanny, I also provide proxy parenting while parents go away, I literally step into the parents' shoes, and look after their entire family, children and pets too!
I am fully qualified, am on the voluntary ofsted register and paediatric first aid trained.
I am very sporty and energetic and bring these attributes into planning age appropriate activities for the children I care for. I can and do take direction from the children's parents , but also can think on my feet and change ready made plans if needs be .
I love to get out and about as Brighton (or where the family are based) has lots of great parks to offer and I make full use of them !
I am very lucky to have a great net work of both childminding and nanny colleagues of which is priceless and can mean ready made friends for the children in my care !
I love messy play from creating cardboard treasure chests to salt dough initials from child lead to adult guided , getting messy is my forte ! I also enjoy aiding the development of children's fine and gross motor skills. I have an array of activities and resources that can aid in this milestone development.
My Experience
Having worked in many childcare settings over the past 20 years, this has enabled me to learn many great skills. From managing a 16-place nursery to working for 7 years as a childminder, following ofsted guidelines and was supported by, what was called Brighton and Hove childminding network.
I have, for the past 12 years worked as a private nanny for 3 families, following the parents lead in parenting their children, creating a loving, secure and fun filled days, full of age-appropriate activities and routines. I have grown as a child carer as have the children in my care and I have formed both great bonds with them and their parents
I have also been lucky to look after children who have Special Educational Needs, from ADHD to speech delay and non-verbal communication. I have been, for the past 8 year a PA for a family that have 2 neurodiverse boys, providing respite care for their parents.
I have also worked as an Individual Needs Assistant in a primary school helping two Autistic children. While working in a school environment I have gained many skills, qualifications, and learning resources to aid children in their learning. I have especially enjoyed developing my skills helping develop speech and language communication in non-verbal autistic children.

Melissa is a wonderful Nanny to our 7 year old daughter. She does a few hours a week for us to give us some respite. Our daughter is Autistic and can take time to warm up to people but she was able to feel comfortable with Melissa very quickly.
Melissa is very adaptable and carefully discovered the best way to communicate with our child and make her feel safe. She is playful and energetic and very patient and loving. I would highly recommend her!

Melissa has been babysitting for us for ten years and we feel so lucky to have found her! She brings so much energy and joy into our home every week. The children, now 11 and 12 years, absolutely adore her. She is a fantastic role model; she has always been caring, fun and completely trustworthy. It is always a pleasure to have her in our home.
We have never had to worry about the children's safety or wellbeing under Melissa's care. Her time-keeping and reliability is impeccable. The house is always immaculate when we come home. I don't think she has ever had to cancel, postpone or delay. She has amazing communication skills and has always met our needs with enthusiasm, empathy and diligence.
She started with us when the children were in nappies and the way that she engages with them has always kept perfect pace with their development. She has always been happy to take them out to the park or swimming for example, to play and be creative with them. Now they are older they'll spend a really enjoyable evening chatting, drawing and playing games together- the mobile phones will be untouched! She is one of those warm, positive people who lifts the spirits and inspires resilience and confidence in others.
You will not find a warmer, smarter, more dependable nanny than Melissa. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

I could not recommend Melissa enough. What an amazingly kind caring lady. Along with making my 3 year old Daughter feel welcome, safe and happy,..She has helped my Daughter overcome her speech difficulties. We were referred to a speech therapist before lockdown 2020 and with the help from Melissa's learning packs she made up for us to do at home and weekly tutoring sessions, not only does my daughter not need to see a speech therapist anymore but she has also come along heaps and bounds with her confidence in learning. Melissa is such a joy to be around. My daughter looks forward to seeing her as she creates such a lovely bond with the Children she cares for and such a fun atmosphere. I have not had any bad experiences with Melissa, only good positive energy at all times. I have also witnessed Melissa around other children (some with additional needs) and she is just so patient, caring and professional when she needs to be. Thank you for all your help with my little lady, i will forever be grateful.
