About Me
Hi, I'm Mel! I have 20 years’ experience of working with babies and young children.
I would describe my approach to childcare as warm, understanding and kind with a huge emphasis on having fun and creating friendships with the children. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors exploring our natural world. I love to take the children on suitable outings as well as providing stimulating activities while at home or in the garden. I take great pride in what I do and love the children that I care for dearly.

I am a caring, energetic, organised and extremely reliable person. I have a huge interest in anything related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal, babies and children! I have attended numerous courses around play, Makaton (baby sign language), communication and special educational needs (to name a few!)
I also have skills in the events industry, helping with the organisation of festivals. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, swimming, walking, and eating plant-based food. I believe it is important to look after our environment so I try to be as eco-friendly as I can be.

My Availability
I live in Somerset and have two children (9 and 6). I would love to find a new family to work with as their part-time nanny, for one or two days per week. I'm open to temporary roles, as well as to nanny shares (which splits the cost for parents). I specialise in babies (from new born) and could be an excellent option if you're going back to work and you feel your baby is too young for nursery just yet. I'm self-employed so no tricky admin or extra costs for you!

Mel was a nanny for my son from aged 9 months until he was 2 as part of a part-time nanny share with another family. I really could not recommend her more highly. She is kind, loving, patient, creative, knowledgeable, incredibly reliable (taking no sick leave despite bad morning sickness while pregnant) and extremely committed. She made leaving him to return to work so much easier - and had no problems getting him down for naps which was one of my worries! The boys did so many wonderful activities with her and she took them out to groups, parks, playgrounds and events too.
Her (slightly older) son came with her and it was great to see him play with and teach the younger boys. Mel is able to manage him and her nanny charges with no problems at all and it was a real benefit to my son having him there too. Both Mel and he have become close friends and feel part of the family. Our son still talks about her and her children every day.
Our nanny share had to end due to changes in various circumstances in all our families but both I and the other family involved really wish she was still able to work for us - snap her up now if you have the chance!
