Childminder in Soham
My Summary
About Me
HI, Welcome to Little Dots Child minding Spot, Soham
**SPACES AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 2027**
I have been a childminder in Soham for the past ten years, supported by earlier childcare experience in West Yorkshire. During this time, I have developed a strong understanding of children’s individual needs and a consistent, nurturing approach to their care and development.
I live with my two children, and our home is conveniently located within walking distance of St Andrew’s School Soham, enabling me to offer reliable before- and after-school care.
Our setting provides a spacious and well-balanced environment, both indoors and outdoors. Outside, we have a large area with a mix of hard and grassed surfaces, shaded by trees as well as a covered decking area for outdoor dining and activities. Inside, Little Dots offers a dedicated childminding space designed to be welcoming, engaging, and accessible for children of all ages. Resources are thoughtfully organised to encourage independent play, including a wide range of toys and activities that promote creativity, exploration, and sensory learning. There are also comfortable spaces for younger children to rest, alongside a large dining area where we come together to share meals.
We place great importance on community engagement, regularly visiting local amenities such as the library, circle time, parks, wooded areas, and nearby shops.
These outings help children build confidence, social skills, and an understanding of the world around them, while maintaining the familiarity of everyday experiences.
A key strength of my approach is supporting children to develop at their own pace. I focus on child-led learning, using each child’s interests as a foundation to extend their skills, encourage curiosity, and celebrate their individual achievements.
My Experience
I bring over 15 years of experience in childcare, including extensive childminding practice alongside previous work in an after-school club supporting older children. My experience spans caring for children from birth through to school age, enabling me to confidently support each stage of a child’s development within a home-based setting. I have also worked closely with children with additional needs, adapting my approach to ensure inclusive, responsive care that meets each child’s individual requirements.
My practice is firmly rooted in the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong focus on the prime areas of learning—communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development—as well as the specific areas that support children’s wider growth. I plan and provide activities that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and led by children’s interests, ensuring that every child is supported to make steady progress in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.
I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly undertake training to keep my knowledge current and relevant. This includes areas such as safeguarding, paediatric first aid, child development, and supporting children with additional needs. Ongoing training allows me to reflect on and strengthen my practice, ensuring I provide a high-quality, safe, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
My Qualifications
I have successfully completed all required qualifications for my Ofsted registration, including the recognised childcare training component. This has provided me with a strong foundation in delivering safe, high-quality care within a regulated childminding setting.
I hold current paediatric first aid and safeguarding certifications, ensuring I am fully equipped to respond appropriately to any situation and to promote the welfare and protection of all children in my care. Safeguarding remains a central priority in my practice, and I consistently apply up-to-date guidance to maintain a secure and supportive environment.
I am also committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake additional training to enhance my knowledge and skills. This continuous learning approach enables me to stay informed of best practices, evolving guidance, and new approaches within early years childcare, ensuring I provide the highest standard of care and learning opportunities for every child.
