About Me
Hi, my name is Katherine and I am an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted registered childminder.
I live in the Walkden area, in a quiet cul de sac, facing a park. My house is a detached property with a large secure fenced garden on a corner plot .
I have two adult children Daniel and Alex and two young grandchildren. We also have a King Charles Cavalier called Ollie who is very much part of the family and loves to interact with the children.
I provide a happy environment where children can learn through play and express themselves well. We do a variety of activities both indoors and outside for instance; painting, colouring, gluing and sticking, sensory play, baking, story time, and play-dough just to mention a few. When the weather is good we can do the above activities under shade outside. In the garden we can play on various rides, bikes, trikes, scooters and also the sand/water play area, trampoline (small), slide and tunnels.
I also offer 2, 3 & 4 year old funding from the government (15 /30 funded hours).

We go out on regular trips to the local parks, country parks, toddler groups and activity centres.
I regularly attend and update my training organised by the local authority and professional agencies for instance PACEY and Kinderly .
When your child is in my care, you leave them safe in the knowledge that they will be supported and cared for as they would be in their own home.
I also offer the before and after school care for the following schools in my local area.

My Experience
My background is in education. For the past 14 years I held the position of Human Resources / Cover Manager at Harrop Fold School. Part of my job in supporting staff was to ensure that they were able to access good quality, cost effective child care near to their place of work. It was after researching this provision that I made the decision to retrain and venture out into the field of childcare.
I have now been childminding for over 12 years and I fully enjoy this new role. I find this role to be extremely rewarding and engaging.
I attended study classes in the evenings to complete the National Childminders’ Association Course as well as various other courses relevant to child care.I am a member of Pacey. As a result I am First Aid trained and am well versed in all aspects of Health and Safety. Other areas of study included, Safeguarding, Healthy Eating’, Consulting with Children, Challenging Behavior, to mention but a few.
I have a good network of childminder friends and we meet on a regular basis for 'outings and play groups'.
I complete and carry out the 'Two Year Progress Checks' ,I use the kinderley App, to complete Observations, tracking and planning. I review the children' s files on a termly basis to help me plan and track for the child's development covered in the EYFS This also gives the parent a chance to see their work and progress.
My training is regularly updated via' Starting Life Well' and I also meet up with other childminders to discuss 'best practice' and any new ideas.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL £5.00 Per Hour/ £15.00 per session
I accept 'Childcare Vouchers' from the various organisations.

Kath is amazing, I finally had the courage to leave my 9 month old baby to go back to work, and I couldn’t of done it with Katherine, she really is amazing, she brought him on loads and learnt him a lot of things. Katherine was amazing with him and would highly recommend to anyone. They did lots of different activities on a daily basis and he loved going there.

My baby started with her at 10 months old and absolutely loves going.

Katherine is amazing. Enough words would not do her justice! Her home is so welcoming, she is kind, supportive, professional and most of all my son adores her!
My five year old does not adapt very well to new surroundings. He’s very quiet and reserved. Katherine has worked so hard to bring him out of his shell. She has her own little ‘morning routine’ getting him comfortable and warm for the super early start before school. I am still shocked to see how open and comfortable he is with her. It’s like being with family, yet still being professional at the same time.
Katherine is not only amazing with my little one, she’s amazing with the parents too. She is unbelievably open and honest. She sends photos of him having a great time, updates when needed and is always there for advice, childminding and ‘mummy advice’. Nothing is ever too much for her. She is an absolute god send.
I really hope that Katherine knows how appreciated she is, to me and my little one. I never thought I would see the day my son would happily open a childminders front door and walk in with a happy face. I leave for work happy and content knowing he is well looked after.

Katherine was so welcoming for me and my son. Especially that my son was his first time. She explained everything to me and was so helpful. My son enjoyed his time there he did so much activities and Katherine kept me updated all the time with lovely photos, It was so reassuring to me that my son was having a lovely. It was so good to see him mingling with other children and playing. Katherine is one of the kindest, patient and easy going person I’ve ever met.
